    Howdy,

I drove up to Canada last week and had my truck treated. Bottom of my truck looks great and I couldnt be happier with that. BUT when I drove home... there was krown stuff on my wheels and it sprayed up on my truck. I used microfiber towels and meguiars quick detailer to wipe down the whole truck.

The truck is now attracting dust on the paint like crazy. Should I degrease the paint then polish and wax it? What degreaser should I use? I am using Meguiars ultimate liquid wax and an orbital 3" wheel to apply.

    Thanks guys!

Just wash the paint using a normal car wash soap. What you experienced is the same as dropping grease or oil on your vehicle.

A word of warning - I used to use Krown on my truck for 2 years until after one application I washed it and the '4X4' appliques smeared off my rear fenders. Went back to the merchant to get replacements and was told "your car wash soap was bad and caused the damage". Frankly, they either thinned their mixture to go further or they did not protect vulnerable areas with silicone as they are supposed to. You may find some of your rubber door seals start to expand as well. Krown is an excellent product if applied properly, so I wouldn't worry.

I have since switched to Corrosion Free - not applied by Canadian Tire.

I use fluid flim, for about ~$50 a year, I apply it myself..doesn't harm anything, just smells strange the first few days

I have used Krown brand rustproofing treatment on both a Jeep Wrangler and a 4-Runner with excellent results. You speaketh the truth though. You WILL end up with the product on your paint, bumbers, wheels, tires and everything else. And the pruduct WILL end up oozing out of all the lower nooks and crannies for the first 48 hours, particularly in warm or hot weather.

What I do is place cardboard box panels on the floor of my garage before I take my vehicle(s) in for the application. On the way home from having the product applied I'll stop at the car wash and do a thorough job of washing my vehicle(s), then I'll park it in the garage for a couple of days to allow the product to stop leaking from out of the bottom of my doors, rocker panels, etc. After a couple days (usually a weekend) I'll wash the vehicle one final time.

It's no more involved than that. My '07 Jeep Wrangler that has spent exactly half of its life on heavily salted Michigan roads doesn't have a speck of rust on the body.

Been using Krown for the past 4-5 years and couldn't be happier. I do get it on the paint but have been washing it off with normal car washing soap. I had no issues with the paint

Thanks guys, I will wash the truck this weekend and apply new wax. Thanks for the input!

I am excited to hear the success you've had with Krown!

To bump this thread as anyone done the Krown treatment since last posted here in 2006 as I am sure Krown products have changed their formula or is still the same old.

I had mine "Krowned" last year and it basically washed off in 1000 miles of driving...needless to say I did it myself this year with fluid film.

Well, that is a first of hearing it washing off. I have heard the opposite where all the dust stick to it so if it was washing off then the dust would not stick to bare metal just saying.

I just did this to mine and sprayed FF on and after driving in the rain, I noticed that around the rear wheel wells/frame area it's pretty much gone. But I'm not sure if it's just the appearance of it or if it's actually gone. What time of the year do you usually spray to maximize winter protection?
