Didn't see anything specific to this when searching...mostly Kobalt truck boxes.

Lowe's sells some mechanics tool sets that look pretty compact and like they would fit well either under the dbl cab seats or behind them...anyone have any experience? I was looking at this specifically:

    http://www.lowes.com/pd_338512-25428-85178_4294707909__?productId=3438028&Ns=p_product_avg_rating|1

Reason I ask, right now my socket set is a Stanley set in a large, thin case. Doesn't store very neatly anywhere...and I need some xmas ideas to give to folks anyway and thought this might be a good one

also interested to see what tool kits fit behind/under the back seats of the double cabs.

preferably something like a 'do it all' kit.

Hm interesting...that one looks similar in size to the one I have that doesn't fit. Might have to go check it out.

I have this set, haven't tried sticking it in the storage areas though, definitely a nice set of tools.

Never been a big fan of the plastic boxes.
For years I have used the tanker bags, small military bags.
The plastic tends to crack, take up a lot of room and make noise all the time.
I use the bags and have been able to add the tools needed that some don't come with and set aside ones I will never need.
There are several socket strips to hold them, and you will find the same amout of tools taking up the area behind the seat, will fit under one side under the seat.
Those big boxed socket sets like that are great for working at the house. Easy to find and put away.
I have several sets of tools, one that will stay in the truck, one that takes up several roll away carts, and one small box type with an extra bag to grab for easy work around the house.

On the road or a fix at hunt camp I use the truck kit.
Quick stuff at the house I use the kit, can do most stuff.
Working on a rig, major work, axle, trailer, brakes, Atv..... in the shop I use the roll away carts.

I just got sick of needing to dig in the cart for something to do a two min job, or needing to open the shop to do oil changes or rotate tires.

That's sort of how I roll right now with my non sockets...they are all in an Irwin tool bag under the seat.

I never carry on the floor any more or not in a storage box, have straps to tie down stuff if in the open.
Watched a tool box kill a rider on an off road trip on an easy hit. It was a bad bounce and the box hit the head, bad news..... Very sad.

If you can tie or strap the tools and bags down. If does not take much on an easy wreck or flop to kill or hurt someone....

Tool rolls or motorcycle kits are nice. The motorcycle rolls are nice because they're designed to be the smallest and most effective.

I have a BikeMaster toolroll that fits right into the jack area in the AccessCab. The jack is still in there, btw. Nothing removed, the kit fits into the spare space.

    http://bikemaster.com/17_piece.html

    Designed specifically for metric vehicles
    Open ended wrenches: 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17mm sizes
    10mm combination wrench
    6" adjustable wrench
    3/8" drive ratchet wrench
    Locking pliers
    Pen type tire gauge
    5 cable ties
    Electrical wire and electrical tape
    Mechanic's safety wire
    10-piece metric hex key set (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 8 and 10mm sizes)
    Flashlight
    6-in-1 screwdriver
21 and 18mm spark plug sockets
    Spark plug gap gauge
    Tool bag

    $66

BMW motorcycles makes some really nice compact toolrolls, probably the best on the market.

This here is a nice toolroll made for motorcycles:

    http://www.advdesigns.com/ulcobmwr1gsg.html

    $250, which is pretty pricey.

Hey Oz I was just looking at a tool roll just like that at Canadian Tire yesterday. I think it was $13.97 and the fabric and clips felt pretty heavy duty. Definitely not like the ones at princess auto. I plan on using tool rolls for storage in the truck as well.

Ya , that Kuny one is only around $15 , the reviews that I read on them say they are well made but the socket holders are pretty small
