I have a 2021 Tacoma and have had a rough ride since I put them on about a year and half ago. I got used to but now I am trying to deal with it. I’m trying to figure out what the correct preload would be for a 2.5-3 inch lift. I watched countless videos and seen the king install guide and I’m not understanding. Below I will attach photos. What I have installed on the truck now:

    - King Shocks
    - SPC UCAs
    - Add a leaf
    - Rock Sliders
    - 285/70/17 E-Load

That’s a lot of preload, 15 threads above the collar. I’ve always been told 11 is the most you want to go (matter of opinion I suppose). But I’m going to go with the amount of preload and your e load tires are creating the harsh ride.

I’ll take pictures of mine when I get home.

I have 11 threads and 650lb coils. I gained around 2.5” of lift.

it has nothing to do with your king shocks the vast majority of what you are feeling is your e-rated tires and too much pre load. find a friend with oe wheels and tires and swap for a day so you will understand just how bad the e’s are…

Tons of preload, those are basically maxed out. Needs adjustment or taller springs. On my 4R my Icon were like that, rebuilt them with 14" 700 lb springs (lots of weight though including bumper and skids) and now only have about a half inch showing.

That is a lot of preload, but Evenflow is right, it’s the E rated tires. Makes these light trucks ride like dump trucks on bumpy roads

Do you mind posting a pic of the side of your truck? I am curious to see how it looks.

The King's on my previous 2nd gen didn't have nearly that much preload, but I do have to say that I wasn't impressed by the ride at all, except for certain off road situations. I opted for the Fox 2.0's on my 2012 Taco and have been much happier with on road and off road ride quality improvements on a "less expensive" lift. The tires are the same as the previous truck, and the leaf pack is the same one I was running previously as well.

    Lower that.
    I am running 2 1/2" lift, 1000 lbs of armor, 700lb springs.
    Super flexy and smooth.
    Good luck with your truck.

Holy hell. I haven’t seen that much preload since my first car date at 14. :anonymous:

As others have said…those LR E’s are doing you no favors. See the white truck with the blue under the tires. Those are what LR E tires are for. See the red….those are LR D/C.

    2082EB4C-8FAF-4133-A147-FCC9EE7DE0B5.jpg

After you get your preload set correctly, then it’s time to dive into other things. What N2 pressure are you running? Better yet…when have you last check the N2 pressure?

If that checks out it's time to dive into valving. Who did you source the shocks through?
