Hello, I'm about to pull the trigger and purchase King coilovers for the front of my truck. I wanted to do the front first so I can at least level out the truck and then do the rears. I wanted to know if the $300 price difference for the adjusters are really worth it and hear people tend to run the adjusters in the rear and not the front. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Personally I don’t think so. In the short term they are kind of cool to have but in the long run they eventually are just set and forget.

Save your money and get new UCA

If I were to get it I'd get adjusters because at that point, what's a few more hundred. I hear it's nice to make it firm for on road for cornering but nice and soft for offroad.

Nice! A set of rears are $800 so money saved pays for the rear shocks.

I think there are a few guys here that run adjusters that might be able to chime in how often they adjust them. They are mostly for tuning.

Like I said I think initially they would be used but after a couple years I think the novelty would be gone.

When I bought my Kings I asked the same question and every vendor said the same thing, they have no problem selling them to me but wouldn’t recommend them.

Ask yourself, why do you need adjusters? Why do you need reservoirs? Ate you actually going to be using the truck in such a way to need them?

So this week was the really the first test for my Tacoma. I took it so i could get to a fishing spot deep in woods and ended up bottoming out on the front skid plate. While i learned what this truck was capable of i also learned i can improve it. I wanted to do the suspension right the first time. I know King suspension has a great reputation. I do 80% on road and 20% off but that may change down the road the more i tinker and swap out stock parts. The adjusters i think would be nice to have set for on road and once i go off-road to readjust them.

The more anodized knobs a thing has, the cooler it is. You’ll be stoked no matter what yo choose though

To me, if it is something you want then get it. If you listen to what others think and in a few months you wish you could adjust your settings then you have to send yours back to King for the additions or buy new. I am looking to go the same route as I like the idea of being able to adjust for different terrain. While you may adjust and forget while on the street (i like a firmer suspension), then you can soften it up once you hit the trail.

I had a car in the past with fully adjustable Koni coliovers and it was a set and forget type situation once I had it how I liked it. However it can be nice for softening up your suspension for off-road.

Do what you want and not what others think is the best route for your build.

I have ADS coil overs with resi's and clicker adjustments and i love the adjustment capabilities! I have had this setup on for about 1.5 years now and adjust the suspension regularly. The obvious is for varying speeds and offroad conditions, but I also adjust for road driving as well. Being able to turn the compression dampening all the 0 gives such a plush, cadillac ride. Setting it to max, makes cornering a lot more firm and sporty on road. I change the settings on the regular!

If you want the ability to change it up, id say get the clickers! Totally worth it in my opinion. I have them on all 4 corners.

For reference, the OEM Kings w/o adjusters will ride like the stock TRD OR shocks while on road but will be a cloud offroad. For me that exceeds what I need for daily driving orwhether its a fire road, bombing some gultches, or rock crawling.

From my perspective it gives you 24 firmer options over the stock OR suspension since the softest setting is the same as a non-adjusted king. Personally, I wouldnt want anything firmer.

Ben was one of the vendors that actually recommended not to get them based on my application.

I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other just throwing out as much data as I can to help you make your decision.

They make a big difference when going from high speed trails to mtns. I use mine a couple times each month. Getting rid of the body roll at slow speeds and then clicking it up for the 100's of miles of WOT to slow hairpins on washboards sold me on it. Same with freighting through back with gear.

Not sure how the trails are in FL compared to Maine, VT and NH.

I have ADS with adjusters. I tend to set mine and forget them for on-road travel, but wheeling it's nice to be able to set things softer or firmer depending on terrain.

I've got adjusters in the rear only. I tend to use them when I have a heavy load in the back or towing something, it seems to stabilize the load better. Other than that it's set and forget as everyone says.

I have adjusters front and rear.

The rear is nice for differing loads.

The fronts are awesome, set them stiff for the road and soft for offroad. Get adjusters and don't regret later.

I have fox with the DSC adjustment, and I've really enjoyed it. I've dialed it in to how I drive on my regular commute and when I make my runs out to the desert. If you can buy this level of suspension, another few hundred won't kill you.

Stole this from Accutune Offroad’s website @*TRD* . Take it for what it’s worth.

“There are many other lesser known benefits of compression adjusters that improve the performance of your shocks such as increased damping, better cooling and more consistency.

Compression Adjusters are basically a second damping piston which works off the displacement of the piston rod and meters oil flow into the reservoir. By adding a second damping piston the damping area and damping force are automatically increased. This is important for 2.0 shocks on solid axles and 2.5 shocks on IFS, which can run out of damping force. Because the compression adjuster piston is located next to the reservoir it does a better job putting heat into the oil where it is more easily cooled. Finally the compression adjuster piston significantly reduces the ability for the shock to cavitate and loose damping. Small amounts of oil can easily flow into the reservoir, but compression adjusters generally don’t flow large amounts of oil well, meaning they’re forced through the main piston, making it do it’s job. These benefits by themselves are often worth adding a compression adjuster to your shocks.”
