I ordered a set of Kings from filthy that were custom valved for my use... including that I was running hydraulic bumps

lomg story short, 6 months later I get the truck back from the fabricator and I see the coilovers have a thick rubber bump on the bottom.

seems repetitive if I’m running hydraulic bumps and I don’t want to run into a tuning issue at full compression...

I sent a message to the fabricator to see if he placed the hydraulic bump in a spot assuming these rubber bumps compress or if he just pulled the spring and compressed the body with out much effort. So if I pull the black rubber bump, I’ll still be leaving compression travel on the table.

I won’t have time until next week to take everything apart and check myself but want to see what folks opinion are on these rubber shaft bumps

But if I’m running an air bump, wouldn’t it be equivelant to running too much air pressure in my air bump and not needed?

If I remove it, I can focus on tuning the air bump...

I just hope the fabricator didn’t place the air bump too... well low... assuming the rubber bump is the bottom... when I’m fact there is another inch of shock travel. Which is a lot on a 5.6 inch travel shock

i would call King for info about it. maybe someone here has modified these and can comment. if not i wouldn't make any assumptions about removing them and how the shocks perform. being IBP they are not exactly like most shocks folks use around here.

Oh sorry, those aren’t ibp. Just regular 2.5 coilovers with a comp adjuster and then a separate hydraulic bump.

I shot an email out to filthy to see what their opinion is since they knew I was running a hydraulic bump.

there is so much good info on this forum, and I figured someone has been in my position and could set my mind at ease.

im a non stop thinker... always debating in my head the thing i can’t do anything about anyways lol

I know... not a Tacoma... but so much of your chassis platform crosses over and the community for my truck is pathetic at best. They are 6CD61711-BF0E-4C2B-8C17-9D47FBE05B28.jpgtoo worried about mpg and factory is best type bs. So few actually Take their trucks offroad. (Tbh, the new bison, even though I’m not a Fan, has brought a lot of new owners that are off-roading their trucks and they are seeing the light of it’s shortcomings, so hopefully the community will evolve)

Dude you’re totally overthinking that. %100 factory, %100 fine. You arn’t going to lose anything, you can’t tune a shock for the last 1/2” only of the stroke.

It is there to protect the shock, it won’t limit any travel. Leave it be

That rubber bump is about an inch. It’s a 5.6 inch travel shock. And I have a hydraulic bump with a spacer in it to limit it to 2 inches of travel.

I’m not sure if I was clear; so now having two bumps, one of which I can’t adjust and is capable of its job per se, and the other o can adjust and is set in a position for better leverage use.... wouldn’t that be too much bump and essentially like running a high psi and high oil fill in the air bump?

No, all shocks have an internal bump stop which are independent of your trucks bumpstop system regardless of how you have the truck portion set up. You can remove it but run the risk of damage
