I was looking at Rhino kinetic ropes and they have sizes 5/8, 7/8, and 1 inch, I want 3/4 inch. So I guess my question is is 7/8 to big?
Also, anybody use XMonster recovery gear? Just trying to find some decent stuff on a budget

7/8 is only too big if your recovery points are smaller than 7/8. Usually the hole is 7/8 so you would want 3/4

I was referring to amount of stretch with the different sizes, too big a rope and you won’t get the ideal kinetic effect, 3/4 is about right for the weight of the Tacoma

I've also been eyeing up a snatch strap but i'm cheep so i've been hesitating. I'm following for the info. I was between Rhino usa, Yankum and even a bubba rope if it could be explained to me why it would be worth it. Especially since i'm already set in ways with 10 years of using a tow rope which I do understand is it hard on everything and but, when it's all you got to get out. We always gave it a try

yep, there's definitely not an SAE or DOT spec on kinetic ropes.

yankum if one can afford it is really the best option.

some of it comes down to how often one really plans to use it. if 'very rarely', the cost of 'da best' is probably not worth it, but treat it closer to a standard nylon strap. slower is better.

I thought Bubba Rope and Yankum were the same company?

I grabbed the 1" Yankum a few months back after my buddy pulled me out of some trails with an 8' tree saver. I thought I had something better in my rig but that was it. No cell reception either. He ended up pulling me 40 miles with that. Talk about some white knuckle driving, ha.

The 1' is probably a little too much but I'm ok with that. Looks like you can get Yankum ropes on Amazon now too.

nope. definitely 2 different companies with similar products. yankum is in idaho, bubba is in florida. i know yankum makes their own ropes, they could make them for others, though the videos i've seen of the facility didn't stand out with any of the alternative colored products than what's in their storefront--normally if they make someone elses ropes, they'd stand out in the background from time to time.

I have a few Bubba Ropes and shackels, got them 4 or 5 years ago. Think I saw then that Bubba supplied for the military so I went with them. So far all the products seem good. Biggest thing I've used my 7/8" rope for was to pull out a dually UPS truck that was stuck in a ditch.
