Has anyone installed a kill switch on a 3rd Gen Tacoma? I'm trying to figure out what would the best way to do so... I am leaning towards using a momentary switch on the starter so that the switch would have to be depressed and the key turned in parallel for the truck to start. I considered putting a switch before the clutch engagement sensor but this could be over ridden with the OEM clutchless start button on the dash. Any input and especially wiring diagrams would be useful. I didn't find much useful info when I searched.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
Been wondering about this also. Hoping somebody with a 3rd gen has done the homework and knows what color wire to interrupt??

So are you saying the J13 plug (from the PCM?) under the glove box controls the clutch activation sensor? Which wire going into this connector would I cut to add the momentary switch? Could this be easily be defeated by pressing the clutches start button?

Id like to do one as well, but thinking about killing the fuel pump. So it acts like its trying to start but just doesnt. Wouldnt give the thief the idea that there is a kill switch maybe. Anyone done this on a third gen?

Makes absolutely no sense to install a kill switch. Cars are no longer "hot wired" and driven away. Standard trucks have bed mounted towing racks and they tow your car away when they steal it.

We will be driving our truck around the world so a kill switch is essential for extra security, both while the truck is parked or during a car jacking event.

While this may be mainly true, there is that ring of thefts in Canada where thieves are absolutely driving the truck away (after spoofing the key proximity). If they cant start the truck because of a kill switch, this would stop their plan. I like the idea of a hidden flip switch, so if Its at the mechanics, I wouldnt have to tell anyone about it, the switch would be off and the truck would act normal.

You are correct, that is one way they steal. A brother in law had 2018 Loaded Silverado stolen driven away while they sat down to eat at restaurant. The Rat Bastids pop the hood slave in another ECM then break in to the cab start it right up that's just one way, all in under 2min. Its what they do. So, in that situation a Kill switch just might stop them from driving away.

Just run a Battery disconnect switch , much easier and simpler
