My TH has such aggressive nanny controls that it impacts my ability to do shit. Today I was putting it up on ramps so I could spray some fluid film underneath. I was driving it toward my garage wall and the truck thought I was going to smash into it.. but like I just needed to gradually go up the ramp. It kept cutting power. It was OBNOXIOUS. How can I shut this shit the fuck off? The Grenadier has a handy “off-road” button that kills every nanny.

So, you're saying when it goes up a hill, it dies? :notsure: No need to cuss! That's obnoxious. Calm your jets.

You should be able to use the steering wheel settings icon to get access to all parking and collision detection settings including turning them off. Check your quick reference guide to know what the acronyms mean.

Hold the OK button on steering wheel to get into this mode to adjust settings.

Agreed that it can be rather annoying at times when pulling into the garage and other tight areas.

    Way to help out

This is really goingvto be annoying for someone parking on a steep incline nose in against a wall, or parallel parking on a hill.

At low speeds it should just be park assist that's doing anything. With so many blank buttons they should have put in a manual park assist switch.

    I understand your frustration OP

Does anyone remember when we use to have to think about checking the air in our tires, staying in our own lanes, having to use mirrors to backup and knowing about how far you could go on that last 1/4 tank. I’m trying to imagine a kid learning to drive in a truck like this and then having to drive a car or truck from the 70’s or 80’s especially if it has three on the tree, I think they’d be lost :)

My ‘23 SR has everything turned off. My wife’s RAV Limited has everything turned on. I often find myself at the same level of frustration when the RAV nanny demands that we run over the cyclist rather than drift over and give him 1/2 lane.

Exactly. I’m just not used to it and don’t need all of it. Some of it I appreciate like the truck stops me from backing into shit. Love that. But holy fuck if I’m trying to drive forward shut the fuck up. I’ll disable a bunch of this shit.

All the nannying stuff reminds of this: “We are from the government, we are here to help”

My daughters BMW almost killed me on the interstate as I was overtaking a semi in the left passing lane, the truck drifted over towards my lane. I tried to move over but the car saw the white line and tried to steer me back over (right into the trailer) and I literally had to fight the steering. It was a very close call. I couldn’t believe how violently the steering was fighting back.
I pulled over and went into the settings, she had the steering intervention set to high. I shut the whole damn thing down. Later she says “ you’re supposed to use the turn signal”. Yeah, like I was thinking of that traveling in a straight line, in the left lane struggling to keep the car where I needed to be.
The system is damn dangerous IME.

This is brilliant, honestly. I don't necessarily mind all of the nannies and keep them on unless I'm off road. I'm sure they really help folks without a lot of truck experience BUT... damn, are they hidden deep in the Tacos menu system. Plus, Toyota's heavy acronym usage is a bit confusing unless you've read (and re-read if you're old like me) the manual.

A "shut the f up, I know what I'm doing" button would be awesome.
