Hi everyone. Would anyone want to sell me the calibration mic from their key amp 180.4? I cannot find mine and would like to recalibrate the sound. It just doesn’t sound “right “ to me. Please PM if you do. Thanks.

Hopefully you can find someone local to let you borrow theirs, instead of having to buy one.

Both, the amp will amplify them making them louder and perform better. Underpowered speakers are more likely to distort and blow. Feed them the juice they're designed to run at.

Bumping this old thread. New here and greatly appreciate the wealth of information. I hope to add a lot to the discussion.

Work just gifted me a 2022 SR 4D. I am in the process of customizing it to my liking. It came with the non-JBL with 7in. screen.

Based on the great information here, I decided to keep the stock head unit and go with:

    Kicker Key 200.4
    Kicker 47KSC6704 (Rear)
    Kicker 48KSS269 (Front)

My question...does anyone have info on whether or not the Metra 70-1761 and 71-1761 apply to the new Gen 4 units?

I don't think those work with 2020 and up. Start here...

    Total Noob here…

I have the Subaru Tweeters installed and front/rear door speakers with required attachments being shipped from Crutchfield.

If I pickup the Kicker Key Amp and Kicker Hideaway Sub what wires, harnesses and other things do I need to install them?

i have a 22 sr5 non jbl 8” hu. Thinking amp under driver seat and sub under passenger seat.

    thanks for the help!

I just upgraded my 22 SR this past weekend with speakers and Key Amp. I will post what I did with pics. I did not put in a sub, but should be super simple.

Not 100% sure about the 2022's. You'll likely need an amp installation kit for the key and the hideaway. If you use Metra harnesses (not sure which ones you need on the 2022's) you'll can get some speed wire (comes in about 20ft sections I think) and make your own harness to plug into the head unit and key amp and then run separate power to the battery and a ground to a seat bolt or chassis somewhere. Also, I think you can tap the front speakers for the output to the hideaway.

Double check with Crutchfield for your specific application.

My 2022 SR Audio Upgrade with Kicker Key Amp and Kicker Speakers

Here is a rundown of the install process for my truck. This should be consistent with everything non-JBL.

    Gear Installed:

    Kicker Key 200.4
    Kicker 47KSC6704 (Rear)
    Kicker 48KSS269 (Front)

    Harness(es) Needed for Install:

T-aco-tunes: Add A Sub Harness. Also add Remote Turn On harness if you need that functionality for your sub. I do not have a sub, but I did purchase it on the small chance I add one in the future. Here is a pic of the Add A Sub Harness, Remote Turn On harness and Key Amp with provided harnesses.

    Key Amp Install Process:

Here is a picture of the Add A Sub harness. Note that they did revise their sub wiring to use front speakers. As mentioned in other posts it used to be connected on the rear speakers on earlier versions.

    Close up shot.

Now, to get the Key Amp install part. I forgot to take completed harness pics, but this is really straight-forward. I recommend soldering and heat shrink tubing. I hate barrel connectors.

On your Add A Sub harness, cut off the long purple wires. I cut mine very close to the connector. Even if you are adding a sub, you will need to splice them in to the input side (Connector #1 side) of the Key Amp (they are currently wired into the output side). You can use either the front driver or front passenger, but not a combination of the two. Should go without saying. Also, you will cut the harness between the male and female ends. Essentially in half. See below.

For the sake of install, I labeled my connectors. Connector labeled #1 will attach color for color to your Key Amp input side. Looking at the Key Amp pic above, the one on the left plugged in to the Key Amp. Connector #2 will attach color for color to the Key Amp output connector (right side of Key Amp in picture). This will leave you +12V (red), ground (black), and blue (amp turn on) remaining. I ran a +12V and Ground through the firewall to the HU space. Ground on bolt to frame next to battery. +12V went directly to battery. I did not use blue as it was not necessary based on my Key Amp settings (dipswitches).

For my install, I did not connect the long purple wires for the sub back into the input side of the TT harness as I doubt I will add a sub. If I do decide I know what to do. Also, as mentioned, I did not use the Remote Turn On, but do have it just in case of future upgrades.

Thanks again for the folks here that provided helpful links and helpful feedback during this process. It has been a VERY long time since I did a stereo install and it pains me that manufacturers have made this process such a PITA these days.

I needed this, thanks! Question: are you not having to do anything with the remote turn on wire, I know you wont be doing a sub right now, but if you do will you need to modify the harness or use the remote wire as is? I'm confused on the removal of the sub wires and if they're related to the remote wire.

EDIT: I think I answered my own question and will purchase the harness without remote turn on. I plan on using the Key's speaker dipswitch to get the signal.

    Thanks!

    thanks!
