Considering installing one of these on my own. Currently 23 Stock Entune 8", non JBL. I have seen several threads, but no good videos of a Kicker Key Amp and Red Wolf harness setup and install. Any good instructions or videos out there? Can i just tap the power of the Head Unit or do I have to run a power to the battery? Thanks in advance

I used that harness but with an Alpine Power Pack. It's best to get power straight from the battery.

The manual itself recommends connecting power to the battery.

I used the Red Wolf harness but I used this amp:

    Kenwood KACM1814 Compact 4-Channel Amplifier https://a.co/d/aYb6mgO

That amp can be tapped into the constant 12 volt from the back of the stock head unit that's part of the grey plug. Because it uses speaker signal to turn on the amp itself, it's fine.

Since the amp has RCA speaker level inputs, it comes with two sets in the box. So I grabbed one set, cut it in half, and spliced it into half of the Red Wolf harness that goes into the back of the radio. Then used the other half of the Red Wolfe harness for the output harness of the amp (all soldered connections) and all done.

That was 2 weeks ago and has been fine ever since. Cheaper and, in my opinion, easier than the Kicker Key amp. The harder part is that you have to tune the amp sensitivity/gain yourself as opposed to having the microphone do it. Worth saving the money though, to me anyway.

I just tapped the rear speaker wires behind the deck to run to my 8" underseat powered Sub. Easy peasy, and have pretty decent bass. Not great bass, but pretty decent bass.

Did the head unit speaker connector change from 2018 to 2020?

I just ordered this Red Wolf harness so I can splice into it instead of the factory wiring when I add my Kicker Key amp. I am now thinking it's not going to work with my 2018 non-JBL head unit. I bought it because the item description says "Compatible with Toyota 2018-2022 Camry RAV4 Tacoma Corolla Non-JBL System". Then after I ordered, I read further and it says "2020-2022 Tacoma non-JBL".

    EDIT:
Disregard. I have confirmed 2016-2019 uses a different connector. This Red Wolf harness is for 2020+. For 2016-2019 see below.

I have a sub and amp with the harness from Amazon already installed in my 22. Would I be able to add this harness and amp? I fear they tap into the same harness

Ditto on the harness, same one I used for the kicker key amp install, just solder or crimp and shrink wrap and you should be ok.

Hello I just got the red wolf connector for the key amp since I have no experience in tuning . Since I'm a total noob, can someone please provide a wiring diagram to the key so I don't mess up? Thank you so much! I'm using factory hu.
on another note, would it be easy to put in a sub somewhere down the road or would I need to rewire everything again?

There is really fantastic documentation and discussion going on there. I read that entire thread last week and @destin_meeks helped me out immediately. It's things like this that keep me coming back to this amazing community!

Hi Guys! one more question, what do do with the blue wire for my setup? do i need to hook it up for the radio to work with hu? and found a ton of info on bi-amp setup, but what should the dip switch positions be for non-jbl with only door speakers? sorry I'm trying to get it done tomorrow and getting more confused... I wired the red wolf female to small end of key, the male end to the large end where the power is. Not sure if this is correct? found a pic in the forum but description is opposite ...
Thank you all for your help again!!
