The 6x9 in the door will give you only mid level sound . Adding the highs from Subaru on the dash will give you highs . If you want to do just the doors you would have to find ones with highs in them and run an amplifier to those speakers . The stock head unit is pretty weak and wont push the speaker properly .

i did...much better but i also put sound mat on the inside of the door panels. prior they would vibrate and if i had any loose change in the little cubby it also would vibrate. sounded like blown speakers. also put caulk on the inside of the door panels where parts came together. you will understand that when you have a visual of the inside of the door panel.

I did 3 way kickers in the front doors, the kicker Subaru tweeters, and the 8" kicker hideaway. I think it's a great setup for the double cab Tacoma. Not going to vibrate the car next to you. Just good balanced sound inside

The following applies to the low powered OEM HU.

From what I’ve been hearing on the threads: if you get the kickers in the doors before the tweeter upgrade, the sound will be improved but the tweeter upgrade will seem more subtle.

If you get the tweeter upgrade first, then the door upgrade will seem a little disappointing. The takeaway: the tweeter upgrade is the game changer…the door speaker is a half step.

I have the lower powered unit. I got the Subaru tweeters first and it was a big improvement. I replaced the 6x9 with a mid woofer (not coax) and the improvement was subtle.

I’ve since got a new HU with more power and things are starting to sing.

I added a Rockford amp 400 watt behind the dash, 2 way dash speaker/tweeter combo and an 8 in amp/sub combo from Rockford and the sound, volume, bass and clarity is extremely impressive and total night and day difference. If I need more thrills I will add new speakers but don't sell the factory speakers short until you throw some power at them. Door speakers alone with the factory unit is not enough to get the full benefits from the speaker. Save your speaker money and add an amp to the factory head unit and thank me later. The factory speakers will come alive. Oh the Rockford amp/sub combo fits behind the pass side rear seat like a glove. Looks factory installed and I did this all for under a grand installed by our local shop here that has been doing stereos for 30 plus years.

I have those speakers in mine. with the factory HU they are an improvement however the Factory HU lacks the power to make them work near their potential. I added a universal Alpine powerpack amp to the system and that really made a difference.

    Edit
I also have the subaru/kicker tweeters an kicker rear door speakers.

I have a powered sub to install behind the back seat too.
