Good morning, I'M new here so I hope I'm in the right area. I have a 2002 Tacoma 2wd 5sd and the keys stuck in the ignition cylinder. I've seen a lot of suggestions for a automatic but nothing for a manual transmission.
    Any suggestions for that?

or go to a locksmith and see how much they charge for a new lock cylinder. Might be able to match key but might not be able to and you'd have a different key for ignition.

To see if it is electrical or mechanical disconnect the negative battery terminal and see if you can get the key out, if you cant then it is time to pull the lock cylinder.

It it totally locked in the cylinder (immovable) or does it turn to On or Start but just not release when off?

Squirt a very small amount of penetrating oil in the opening and then gently tap on the back of the key with a small hammer. Sometimes that helps.

or press something that vibrates slightly against the key… like an electric toothbrush or the back of a cordless sander.

Maybe try moving your steering wheel too? I know the steering lock shouldn't keep the key in but maybe something in that mechanism is broken.

So you put in a new lock cylinder with a new key, and again the new key is getting stuck in the new cylinder?

By stuck do you mean actively stuck or just keeps getting stuck? Is the old key still stuck in the old cylinder? Is the new key still actively stuck in the new cylinder?

When it is ‘stuck’ can you turn the key?

I can start the truck and shut it off but the key will not come out of the cylinder, even if I put the new cylinder with key in.

Hmmm, it’s very strange that the new cylinder is acting like the old one, did you try the cylinder to check its function before you installed it? How long have you owned this truck, did it used to function properly or did the key just all of a sudden not want to come out?

Maybe the electrical portion of the switch is keeping the lock cyl from turning all the way back to the first position? Try removing the electrical part of the switch and see if the key turns easier

The key worked perfectly and then I came home and went to shut off the truck and it shut off but the key wouldn't come out.

I'll try to remove the electrical part and see if it works then.
Thanks again for all your help.

As already stated above try wiggling the steering wheel left and right while trying to remove the key. Pretty common to have it jam up if your wheels are turned in one direction and key won’t come out to turn it in the other to free it.
