As the title states... Just heard it bouncing around in the dryer. Was in there for about 5 minutes. Still works, but for how long?

Has anyone else done this? How long before problems?

Just dry it out thoroughly if it isn’t. Should be good

    Oh look, another mod....

Treat it like an iPhone from 2004; drop it in a bowl of rice to absorb all the moisture. Personally. I have never had this happen to me. So I have no idea the damage that you may have caused. My guess is, you ruined it.

Hopefully you have a spare (assuming you were given two, I know a lot of people weren't due to chip shortages).

I ran mine through the wash a year ago and it still works fine. Like others have said, pull the battery and let it dry.

I went tubing and the keyless entry fob was underwater for an entire afternoon.
When I got back to the vehicle, I didn't press any button and the keyless entry still worked as if nothing happened.

    yours should be fine

Yeah, as others have said, basically dry it out, but putting it in rice for a couple of days is the best thing, rather than using a hair dryer or something. There is a guy on Youtube whose channel is called "Man + River", and his thing is scuba diving into rivers and lakes and seeing what he can find using a metal detector. He finds an amazing number of phones, and most are iPhones. He takes them home and if they do not power up, he then puts them into a silica beads type of bowl, which dries them out. He puts the whole phone in there. It is amazing to see how many times he is able to get the phones working again, and the cool thing about his videos, is that at the end, if he can find the owner, using the sim card inside, he then contacts the owner and gives them back their phones, and usually is able to video that return. It is totally cool! But it shows that as others here have said, try it out and you will most likely be good to go. It beats the heck out of buying a new one and having to have your girlfriend stand on the corner to earn enough money to pay for it! ;-)

Believe it or not, not all electronics are designed by Apple to be fragile and sensitive devices. Most can handle the rigors of everyday life.

True. Regarding my earlier comment about iPhones being lost under water, at the same time, it was also amazing when "Man + River" guy finds iphones and other phones under water, how MANY of them still turn on WHILE HE IS UNDER WATER with them! Of course, they had only recently been lost as the battery was still good, but still, the videos are cool when the guy hits the power button or whatever, and the screen turns on underwater! Same thing goes for when he finds GoPros that people have lost. The cool thing about the GoPros when he finds them, is that most of the time, he is able to retrieve the videos that are on it, and many times, the LAST video recorded, is the one that was being videoed when the person actually lost the GoPro. So you see the camera as it falls, hits the water, and then slowly sinks all the way to the floor of the river/lake where it continues to record until the battery goes dead. But, dry it out and it still works!

That was my analogy for getting the hell out of the college environment. Somehow Apple has something to do with it.
Good luck OP, I toasted at least one keyless remote for my older Toyotas by running in the rain with it in my pocket

Ok so it wasn’t a Tacoma but a couple of years ago, I went to Idaho and Oregon to visit my family. We went to some hot springs and my uncle left the key to his new GMC in his swim shorts. He didn’t realize until we were leaving and it was dark by that time. So, we had no time to waste so I asked a bunch of random people for a hair dryer or heat gun or rice, right. Finally, got a hold of a heat gun so about 30 minutes more or less of trying to dry the key, went back to the truck and it worked! When he got back home, he left it in a bowl of rice and key still works. Lol I think it’ll be alright.

Been there, done that. I had to replace the battery but it’s worked fine for at least a year now.

Thanks. That video made me figure out that there is a little key in the fob! I guess that's why it's do fat.
