Kenwood DDX5707S and FO-CAL 6.5 2way speakers still going strong!

Care to elaborate further on what focal's you're using, amp if any, sound deadening, stock wiring, ect?

 

How are you liking the kenwood headunits? was thinking about going and upgrading the factory to one of those.

 

I believe Kenwood merged with JVC, so you might consider looking at both to see which offers the most for your money. Kenwood does make nice stuff and they have a higher factory rms rating than most other aftermarket car radios.

 

I know some people who have jvc and they weren't too happy with them, and yeah jvc and kenwood merged a bit a go I heard about that. Thats why i wondering if the kenwoods were any good

 

Find a model you like on Crutchfield.com, and you'll see plenty of honest reviews. They're really good about recommendations and returns/exchanges.

I went through this several months ago and decided I wasn't willing to spend over a grand just to replace the head unit with features I wanted. Now I'm planning a system with the stock head unit. Either morel or focal flax speakers, probably a JL stealth box or something custom from Mr. Marv, and probably a JL Vxi dsp amp to power the whole thing. Of course, my mind changes daily.

 

I have had this Kenwood system since august of 2020 and with no problems in cold weather or Virginia heat the one thing I am going to do is get an amp. a guy I work with is getting one for his 2018 Tacoma because he wants the apple car play and android auto. The speakers are kickass very clear awesome bass I even have a factory USB, they did a great job.

I am very happy with this Kenwood deck and Focal speakers so I went to Audio Express it is a local place here in Virginia and asked about an Amp they suggested the JL 400, I did it and I love its great sound and now on the highway, I can hear the music over the tires and driveline noise.

You've definitely picked out some premium audio components at a reasonable budget. I think you've inspired me to do something similar.

 

I waited a while about five years before taking the plunge but It was well worth the wait .
