My truck came with one of those KARR alarms and whenever I disconnect the battery it puts it back in shock sensor mode, so when I shut the door too hard the alarm goes off. I can’t figure out how to put it back into the mode where I can lock the car without the shock sensor arming. Valet mode I think?

Good stuff, thanks. My truck has the KARR alarm on it too that I got bamboozled into buying when I bought the truck from the dealer. It's never given me trouble but I know it's only a matter of time, definitely saving this info for the future.

I turned that shock sensor all the way down to one and have had it that way for years. It’s still goes off more often than not when I close the door. When I put it in valet mode, it allows me to just lock it without interference from the shock sensor. Would be cool to have it chirp when I lock it but I think that you can only do that when the shock sensor is on

That's weird. Mine's turned all the way down too, the only thing that sets it off is if I drop something really heavy into the bed lol. I could jump up and down on my sliders and it won't set it off.

Wait, so you're alarm is activated before you close the door? Shouldn't it activate after you close the door and hit the lock button? Just curious how shutting the door would trigger the alarm.

to trouble shoot I’d start by understanding why the alarm is going off, Intrusion Warning Signals page 4, this may help eliminate the shock sensor. Also maybe your alarm system is set to passive mode, you could try reprogramming to active mode.

Changing Activation Between Active and Passive page 5 & 6

it has function where it chirps if a door isn’t shut. I was going off this manual but I’m not sure if it’s for the correct model

I know this is an older post, but my Karr alarm on my 2021 Tacoma (bought in May 2021) is programmed with an app that connects to it via Bluetooth.

While the technology for Bluetooth was technically around when 1st gen's rolled off the line, it wasn't implemented into widespread consumer electronics until WAY later.
