    Karr alarm model 2040

The only time The alarm system is used is when I disconnect the battery, the ignition gets canceled(you turn the key and get nothing). By using the remote I can deactivate the alarm allowing me to can start the truck again.

Problem is I lost the remote....

    Options:

    1. Buy new remote and program

$40-$60 for an old shitty remote I don't use often

    $18 clone remote

    2. Remove alarm and possibly activate Ignition cancel

Didn't want to risk being stuck.

    3. Find bypass

Found the owners manual, and found an emergency disarm. States roughly when the alarm is activated, you can deactived the whole system with just the key and the already installed programming(valet) button, located on the backside of the blinking light

    IMG_1332.PNG.jpg

I wanted to test this new finding to see if it would work when I disconnect the battery and just the ingition cancel was activated.

It worked tested it out twice, just to be sure.

    How to bypass:

    -Open door
    -Insert key to ON position
-Press the programming(valet) button down for a few seconds

    That's it.

Came across this thread looking for program instructions myself, I have a KARR 2040 on my 2005 civic (remote FCC# ELVAT5H). I just got the ebay clone remote in the mail today and plan on trying to program it later tonight. I have been researching this for a month+ so I'll let you know how it goes.

For your own info this is what I have for programming instructions

    KARR ELVAT5H Programming Instructions

To add additional remotes to your system:

    1. Enter the vehicle and turn the ignition to ON.
    2. Press the valet button 3 times. The LED will flash once, and the siren or horn will chirp once.
    3. Hold down the Arm/Disarm transmitter button for three seconds (if using clone remote either press LOCK or UNLOCK instead of Arm/Disarm.)
    4. Press the valet button once. The LED will flash twice and the siren or horn will chirp twice.
    5. Hold down the TRUNK button for three seconds.
    6. Press the valet button once. The LED will flash thrice and the siren or horn will chirp thrice.
    7. Hold down the Panic button for three seconds.
    8. Turn vehicle OFF.

Programming worked! Just finished programming the clone remote and it worked exactly as my above stated directions.

There is a little button behind that red LED in the pic in your original post. Tap that 3 times and it will enter programming mode. Follow directions as noted above. I programmed all 4 buttons just because (even though I don't have a trunk actuator.)

Only different thing is that on the original remote had ONE Arm/Disarm button for the lock. The clone has TWO separate Lock and Unlock buttons. I programmed both just because and they BOTH function as lock AND unlock. This is probably just because that is how the electronics in the actual alarm box works.

Best of luck! IMO it was totally worth the $20 to have a working remote/alarm for the car again. I'm going to buy a second for backup.

Should be getting my remote this Friday, I've looked into the programming and it looks like there are a few options.

I plan on reprogramming the system to remove the chirp during the lock and unlock process.

For mine it always chirped if I tap the button and no-chirp if I hold the button, both with old and new remote.

out of subject, but isn't KARR the evil version of KITT in Knight Rider?
Cool name for an alarm system, if it's a reference to that, haha

    Good call.

For the alarm system ehh... everything online says there shit, I’m just using it for the keyless entry, any ways.... bought the EBay remote, super easy to program.

My alarm had chirps during the lock and unlock which was annoying but, you can program for no chirp as seen in the manual above, it’s straight forward.

Now, I get just a light indication with lock and unlock ittttss nice.

I tried this but my replacement fob didnt work to program... it is a generic one off Amazon for 12$ and im wondering if the KARR system replaced the stock remote entry module? it may be cheaper for me to buy that stock module to replace the karr system if so, than purchase a KARR remote fob...
