So I needed new tires for my '09 with 190k and have always been on the lookout for something that had the deep snow traction of the duratrac's. I already went through a couple sets of the duratrac's and watched them from going $ 160 a tire to nearly double that over the last several years. I ended up buying the Trail Hog's for a couple reasons. One being that the whole set cost me $ 700 total in 285/70/17's and the other is that in that size duratrac doesn't make E load tires. Even though E load tires are heavier and not as responsive I feel they do alot better in deep snow and absorb crappy roads better. I'll update it when I get a chance to go thru some deeper snow. For now though they ride good, no noise, balanced fine and have a great tread.

Was thinking about getting some also. Great reviews 10 ply tire and it weighs about 6lbs more than a duratrac in 285/75r16.

The wear is good so far, definitely still quiet on the roads. It's better than duractracs on wet/rained on pavement. I'd say they are at about 20% less efficient in deep snow and on ice than duractracs. The sidewall blocks curve more than the straighter edge duratrac blocks on the sidewalls so I think that has a lot to do with it. I should be able to give a more realistic update this winter when the tires are more into their halfway life.
