EDIT- previous owner tossed the TRD reusable oiled filter and left the sticker on so that confused me. I'm dumb so ignore this thread as I can't find a way to delete it.

Hello all, I've been washing and oiling the TRD air filter with at K&N cleaner/oil kit over the past few days. Filter was filthy with dust/dirt when I started so I washed all that off and it's so much cleaner now. Took 24 hours to dry thoroughly so now I'm oiling it this morning and thoroughly concerned about putting too much on and fouling the MAF sensor. The K&N instructions make it sound like you've got to oil the dirty/intake side of the filter enough that the front and back of filter are an even red. That seems like a lot?

I saw a TW thread saying to shop vac the back of the filter to pull oil thru and suck off the excess, but I don't have a shop vac or vacuum at the moment. Does this look okay to people? Too much oil or too little? I've let it sit for ~1 hour and it doesn't look much different and certainly hasn't turned the backside red at all. Is there such thing as too little oiling?

    Truck is a 2014 with a V6 and TRD re-usable filter. 55k miles

Well that’s the status of the filter when it went in the truck. Upon starting up, I had a CEL and traction off light. Drove on over to autozone and learned I had a P0416 for the Secondary Air Injection Switching Valve B Circuit Open.

I did the fog light anytime mod and had to disconnect and reconnect my dual battery setup since the last time the truck was on so I’m wondering if either of those had an effect. The truck is running at 13.4V now as opposed to its usual 13.9V. Was supposed to take off on a 2,000 mile road trip this week and am stressed trying to figure out where I screwed up now.

All you really need to do is lightly fog ea pleat and keeping the spray nozzle 8 - 10 inches above the filter

Your filter is soaked in oil

Dammit... appreciate the reply. K&N said to get a uniform red on front and back which seemed excessive and do go from 3 inches off.

Solution now? Clean the MAF I'm assuming and hit the filter with the cleaner spray or is it time to buy a new filter?

Well... that was a paper filter and not the TRD reusable one. Thanks to the previous owner for not removing that sticker on the airbox when he trashed the TRD filter. Replacement single use filter in there now.
