The cabin filter won't affect growl, and is not affected by engine RPM.

It's too early to be this drunk. Except for the Irish.

Yep, I’ve just used dawn in the past with good results. I see it like this. We went decades with no A/C filter in vehicles so mine should be fine without oil on it.

Yes. You have to use their stuff. I just did it for the first time last month. Well worth compared to the PoS Toyota filter.

Not to mention that anything you spray, dollop, smear, or brush onto the cabin air filter will wind up in your lungs.

Oil is particulately bad as it is carcinogenic.

But if someone is old enough to worry/fuss about cabin air filters but doesn't understand how air and breathing work, they should definitely clean those filters (hopefully, a quality, organic, free-range asbestos air filter) with methyl toluene, then coat it with an oil rich in PCBs. Add a spritz of Ortho Flying Insect Killer for a distinctive scent and fewer mosquitoes.

    Breathe deep the gathering gloom...

I dust mine with hexavalent chromium. It kills bacteria.
