My girlfriend recently ditched her pos 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i limited.

It's her first financed vehicle and the first one worth more than a few thousand dollars. She's super excited about it and it's cool to see the change in her personality because of it. You just feel better about yourself when you drive a nice vehicle!

I've been trying to find things to improve about the outback but I love it pretty much the way it is. Basically just minor usability mods for now. Not ready for new wheels and tires anytime soon, and I haven't found much more than that on the subaru outback forum.

    Installed:

    - konig racelite wheels with toyo celcius cuv tires

    - 2" trailer hitch and 4 pin flat wire harness

    - Power stop Z23 rotors and pads front and rear

    - OEM dog barrier- (fence type thing to keep the pups off the leather)

    - DDMtuning hid low beam headlight bulbs. 35w 6000k.

    - DDMtuning hid high beam headlight bulbs. 35w 6000k.

    - DDMtuning hid fog light bulbs. 35w 6000k.

    - rear dome light led panel

    - rear hatch flush mount leds for area lighting when hatch is open

    - Viper remote start

    - spare tire and tools to change a tire

    - portable booster pack (jump starter)

    - compact metal snow shovel

    - recovery strap and shackles

    - jumper cables

    - hatchet (for camping trips)

    - socket set

    Installing soon:
    - Scangauge- our neighbor gave us his extra one, I just need to get a cord for it and decide where to mount it. Nicole will never use I'm sure, so as long as it's not in her way she may never notice it.

I'll post some pictures and update stuff as I have time. Right now I'm just bored at work.

Can't wait to do some camping trips with it where we won't need the truck. Roof top tent will look good on it and the trunk area already has a 12v outlet for the arb fridge.

Subaru's are cool and they don't need anything other than some personalization.

A GPS is nice, especially if you don't want to waste your battery and/or cell data on your cell phone. Cell phones are good for short trips. I wouldn't want to use my cell phone for a long trip......

If you're camping and/or outdoorsy...you might consider some rubber floor mats & seat covers. :D

    Thanks Jan!

Yea it already has rubber all weather mats and rear cargo liner. The seats are leather which I've always been impressed how well the leather in my Tacoma cleans up.

Yea I think it's really comfortable no matter where you sit. Reclining back seats should be standard in everything lol. So much better.

So I guess I'll need to take some pics and update this a little bit.

Remote start is in, hid headlight bulbs are in, installed some auxiliary lighting in the trunk.

Outback got rear ended last week. No injuries but $6k in damages. Waiting for insurance to approve the estimate. Then off to the body shop. New rear hatch, new rear bumper, even a new rear floor pan because the spare tire storage area is crushed.

Subaru is back from the body shop.

Haven't had a chance to give it a thorough inspection but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. They even took the time to re-install the led lights I mounted in the rear hatch to light up the cargo area

Yea they are cool. I like the ass end on them a little better than the outback but it has less storage space.

I ordered new wheels and tires for the outback. The wheels are konig racelite in gun metal to match the ones on my truck, with toyo celcius cuv tires.

Also we're done with the free oil changes, so I ordered a 6 pack of oil filters on ebay. Time to start catching up on maintenance.

Did an oil change the other day... Pain in the ass compared to the Tacoma. I had to jack it up to get to the oil filter, and it's in a stupid spot between the exhaust pipes.

And the new wheels and tires are on. Even took it to @David Tarantino for an alignment and to calibrate the tpms sensors.

Added a trailer hitch with 4 flat wire harness, and power stop z23 rotors and pads.

Recently changed the spark plugs, air filters, serpentine belt. Need to change the engine oil and filter, thinking about changing the gear oil and trans fluid. It has about 80k miles on it. Subaru also reccomends changing the fuel filter at 60k... but idk if I feel like dropping the tank.

A friend has these on his 2011 Outback: http://kingsprings.com.au/ His is the same color and everything, but it's a 3.6.

I had an '04 and an '08 Outback, both 3.0s. Miss my '04 the most.
