Got a good deal on a 8” JL Audio ACP108LG-W3v3 Active Box Micro Subwoofer With Built In Amp which I will be installing in my wife's 2020 Accord Sport 2.0. From what I understand it has an OEM eight speakers stereo with an external amp.
I recently installed a sub and amp in my Toyota Tacoma. (My first time). I used this loc pictured and really liked it because it was plug and play. I didn't have to cut any factory wiring. The place I got this one from said they don't make one for the Accord because it has an external amp. Does anyone have a link to where I can buy one like this? The JL sub has signal sensing auto turn on so I won’t need the red signal wire I believe. That being said, can I just tap the rear speaker wires since they are amplified anyway? If it means I don’t have to run all those wires and do all that extra work then I would be OK with just using what I believe is called a T tap? someone on the Accord site did mention that similar to the Tacoma, the front speakers get more power than the rear.

This will all depend on what the speakers actually are. You don’t need to tap into the “more power” speakers. You typically want to tap into the largest speakers in the car. If this is The front doors, then grab those. If this is the rear deck (which is often is) then grab those.

you won’t find a harness/adapter like you did for your toyota. And Honda amps can be a huge pain to access, and an even bigger pain to find info on.

mid I recall correctly, the 8-speaker system in the 2018 had 6.75” in the front door and the rear deck. If the 2020 is the same, get a signal from whatever one is easier to access.

So this would work to tap in to the signal from the rear speaker?

I would assume you don’t even need a LOC. Most self-powered subs like that don’t these days. Just get a length of speaker wire (ideally pretty thin, like 18awg) and run it from your tapping location to the sub

So I guess this plug would substitute for the RCAs. At first it threw me off because it said high-level input but I guess that’s what it is and then I’m assuming there’s a crossover in the amp which cancels out the high-level signals. I also was thinking that this is a weird power connection but I guess it’s all supposed to be unpluggable so that you can easily take it out.

If you don’t mind me asking, how good was “a good deal”? I’m in the market for this exact sub and just want to make sure I jump on it if I ever see it at a good price, since I’m in no rush to get it. The lowest I’ve seen so far is $479.99.

Other Tacoma dudes that are packing 2 12s or even 2 10s in these trucks have got to be deaf lol. I am pushing one of these 8s with 300w and it’s pretty loud in there.

Do I need to tap the signal from both of the rear speakers or will one be fine? The high level input has four wires.

I caved and ended up buying this sub. I got it all installed last night and I’m glad I got it! You definitely can’t tell that it’s just a single 8” sub back there! Now I’m just waiting for the RBC-1 bass control knob to come back in stock.

The 8” is for my wife’s car. I have the 10” in my truck. I was planning on putting in a bass knob. But I really don’t even think I need it. I haven’t found a situation that I feel like I need it for. I listen to a lot of talk radio as well

I felt the same way until I added one now I will never have another sub without one. I mess with it every time I use the stereo I love it.

I second that. I couldn’t live without my bass knob. My wife rides with me a lot, as does my 2 year old. My wife doesn’t like much bass, and I don’t want to fry my kid’s ear drums like my dad did to me.

And sometimes, I want a little less volume but a little more sub, or a little more volume with less sub. Whatever I’m feeling, I can make it happen

Interesting. Makes sense though. Got it sitting on the workbench ready to go. Might as well put it in

Before that happens, my wife’s sub is not working. Need to troubleshoot that. I used crimp style wire connectors (in pic)which didn’t seem to have a great connection. I also used the remote wire that came with the amp kit to wire the speakers from the back 6x9s to the sub. I wouldn’t Think that would be a problem though.
