So, as the title states, looking for suggestions for an IWB holster for a fat guy. Biggest issue would be the holster digging into my soft and smushy bits. Don't have much experience with holsters and want some insight before I buy an expensive one. Looking to have it along my back or left side.
    Thanks.

How "fat" are we talking about and what will you be carrying?

I don't know that "fat guy" has anything to do with it, but I use a leather-lined kydex IWB holster. IMO the thinner holster is desireable. If you are interested, plug "Silent Thunder holster" into your favorite search engine.

Aliengear makes a modular "ShapeShift" holster that can switch between IWB, OWB, Appendix & surface mount. I use the Appendix and paddle carry for my 9mm G2C. I'm a big fella too and the neoprene pad and ample drop are the only way I can holster carry in-the-pants.

Here's a link to their line for the FNH 5.7:

Thanks everyone. After alot of searching and bacn and forth, things become a blurr. I think I narrowed it down to Aliengear or Stealthgear. Gonna research them some more.

You'll need a good belt too, they're complimentary.
I mean no disrespect, but being heavy around the waste, does make IWB more uncomfortable and less concealed.
Extra heft, is going to push the grip outwards, causing the barrel to cant/dig in. Of course the outward push is also revealing as well. Again, I'm not trying to be an ass. 2 years ago, I lost 41pounds, and carrying is night and day. So much, my current IWB holster has an additional mag carrier. https://www.tier1concealed.com/products/new-axis-custom

Are you going to carry Appendix or 3 O' Clock?

Holsters are like shoes to be honest. You’re gonna buy one, have things you like and don’t like, buy another and go through the same thing. Concealed carry sucks and it’s never that comfortable, it just becomes something you get used to so that if the time ever comes (hopefully never) then you have the tool needed to save your life and your families.

3 oclock, most likely. That's where I seem to have most uniformity around my waist. Also, bending over would seem more uncomfortable with appendix, I think.

I figured it would be like that. Guess I'll bite the bullet and get something I think might work overall.

Would you be opposed to an OWB that is very tight to body? I’ve gone through dozens of holsters and the DeSantis Speed Scabbard is crazy comfortable and concealable.

Stealthgear USA holsters all day. Soft vented side next to your body. Kydex outer shell. I can work in them all day no problem.

I use a kydex only one from Ghost Gun Holsters but I think he doesn't make them anymore. Word of caution, Alien gear cause people to point the gun at themselves when holstering. Really that goes for any of the holsters that have a soft or neoprene style pad against the skin. You need to make sure that your holster doesn't close up when it is in your waistband and the gun is not in it. I am a competitive shooter and range safety officer for CCW classes etc. and have had to send people home for essentially putting the muzzle of the gun into their hip to get the thing open on the reholster because the holster closes up a little bit especially against those of us with "squishier" parts. This does not give me any authority on the subject other than my experience. I have probably 30 holsters in a drawer that I have tried and I only use "clam shell" style kydex now. If I need a new holster, I go with Precision Holsters. The ones I have tried from them are very good. I also have run the Galco KingTuk which are pretty comfortable but you know they are there and take up more space than they really need to. When teaching/SO'ing CCW classes I conceal a .50 Desert Eagle in a gold sparkling holster without telling anyone until we get to the range in an OWB configuration to prove the point that the way you dress is the biggest part of concealment. It ruins a lot of peoples days when they realize they don't "have" to buy a new small gun for CCW haha! Hope some of that helps.

Not opposed to it but would rather conceal carry than open carry

Good points. You would assume that not pointing a gun at your abdomen would be instinct. I'm gonna get something that is molded and will avoid that mistake.....hollowpoint to the gut/intestines would be a shitty way to go

I use mine concealed. You don’t have to be IWB to be concealed.

True. I guess that will be my back-up method if completely iwb does not work.

I am a big guy. My family is all big. This is what I can tell you. Carry on your strong side with a plastic holster and a GOOD belt. It should help. Unless your sides fall over the holster. But you should carry strong side at about 4:00. That helps me.

Important question...what was your concern about bending over? Printing?
