    It looks like this-

My brother needs 4 tons of that stuff brought from a quarry to his home.

I have 1995 Tacoma, 2.4L. It has 240k miles on it. Still going strong, it's my DD for an hour long commute.

How much weight would you all recommend I have for one load? I don't want to over do it.

In my experience dealing with gravel, concrete, soil and sand, I don't think it would be a very "efficient" thing to do. You won't be able to fit much in your bed before it reached its max load limit. You will make ALOT of trips....time, gas, and if something breaks, are not wort it, IMO.
Can ya'll not pay a dumptruck to deliver it, maybe rent a trailer and pull the trailer with the stone?

I recommend having it delivered in a dump truck.

My brother and I built a deck before I had my Tacoma. I figured we could pick up the concrete when we picked up the mixer from the rental store. Then I figured out how much concrete mix we needed and it weighed like 2 tons. Too much for the trailer towed by his WRX so I had it delivered. The trailer could carry about 750 lbs safely, that's 6 trips. The delivery charge was a bargain. Even with the Tacoma I'd have it delivered, overloading breaks things.

Yeah my buddy wanted me to haul a full size 1 ton truck on car trailer to a shop behind my 3.4 DC 4x4. I said hell no! You can only haul or pull so much. And it's not a lot.

I agree. Nothing good for your truck can come of this. While I love my 04 TRD, towing and hauling are not it's strength. Once towed a full size Buick on UHAUL trailer. NOT GOOD and beat the crap out of my truck - clutch especially. Like I said, very very capable vehicles but not so good for towing/hauling big loads......

    Pretty much stock right now
Dump truck material, not pickup truck material. Besides making 10 or more trips, you have to shovel that stuff out of the bed. The pile is a lot bigger when you are facing it with a shovel.

The wholly nightmare of shoveling isn't worth it, I know, I've done it. Have it delivered.
Home Depot rents dump trailers as an option.

Hauling and unloading that much, that many loads in your truck will make all involved wish they had thought it out more. Whatever the delivery charge is will be pennies to your griefs dollars.

You have a 2.4L, so 5 lug? The weight capacity of that thing is maybe 500 lbs. So 4 tons would be 16 trips. Not the right tool for the job.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Some quarries have a minimum limit. And some won't even load your vehicle if it's not built for the load.

And if they do try to load it, they will use a front-end loader that will dump rocks all over the top and exterior sides of your truck bed.

Correct, his truck will get all kinds of fucked up that it didn't need to.

I hauled some pea gravel and sand in my bed before. They were able to load it with the bucket diagonally and didn’t drop any on anything painted.

With that being said, I was only doing one trip, but even then it was a lot for the truck. Defintely get that delivered.

Yea I decided to heed the advice here and we sprung for a rental truck to haul it.

Renting one of those trucks form Home Depot and a trailer is by far the best option. You'll probably spend less on the rental than you would have in gas for the 25 trips it would take to do it in a 4cyl Taco.

I did some dirt moving a while back, and rented a 2 axle U-haul trailer. I think it ended up being around 13 or 14 yards total. Totally overloaded the trailer, and pulled it with my 3.4L Taco. It "worked", but luckily there were no real hills between my house and my brother's house where we unloaded it.
