Is this paint normal on a brand new Tacoma

The paint doesn't match, aside from the dull orange peel finish, the front plastic bumper does not contain any metallic in it at all, doesn't look right to me. However, this is my very first Tacoma, is this how it's supposed to be?

 

Is there some kind of protective film on there?

Does not look normal to me. Go to the dealership and check out other black Tacomas and see what they look like.

 

Hell nah bro. Raise hell about that shit. Get a new bumper and fender guards, painted and matching. Looks like they had damage and tried to cover it up. Call Toyota directly don’t even waste your time with a dealer. That’s literally two different color codes. Black and midnight black metallic. Someone fucked up somewhere.

 

Can't believe they sold it like that? Did they damage the original bumper and throw on a poorly painted replacement? Yikes.

 

It's probably normal, but it looks as if the black plastic bumper was sprayed with only the clear coat.

I'd get that repainted. Maybe take a razor blade and scrape it and see if it was sprayed with black paint.

 

Looks like the same LaminX Clear Bra type film that came on my bumper. Normal.

 

We drove 2 hours in the rain down to Bakersfield in the dark, the vehicle wasn't ready to drive home until closing time at 9:00pm. We were so tired and exhausted with a long ride home, we didn't even really check it out in the dark.

Question, can I go to my local Toyota dealership or do I need to go clear back down to Bakersfield to have them look at it? I guess I'll call the dealership and find out.

 

It looks like this thing was hit on the lot or got into an accident while in the dealerships care, that looks like a very shitty back alley body shop paint job to me. Go raise hell at the dealer!

 

I thought Sports came with a painted color matched bumper?

Bad paint job. I’d take it back.

 

Mine is black and it’s the same. Also the lower panels have the orange peel.

 

My lower panels heaven the orange peel also from the protective coating, but you can still see that it is metallic paint and not just flat black.

 

Looks like others have the same issue? Really weird, as my Silver TRD OR, the front bumper paint perfectly matches the body.

I’ll pay closer attention next time it’s sunny. Didn’t know about the orange peel protection. See if there is any metallic in the bumper.

I did add a clear bra but noticed the mismatch before that was installed.

 

Like someone above mentioned it looks like a stock unpainted bumper that was just clear coated and not painted
Should always check it out good when you pick it up and point out any cosmetic issues and have them addressed before you leave the lot.
Because we all know once you leave the lot the stealerships could care less about you and your problems.
