Is there anything that can mimick a seized engine?

3” lift 33’s Diamond plate toolbox The truck is pretty stock, actually.
So I recently replaced my timing chain and guides. The truck ran great for 3 weeks or so. Then one night driving in the snow, it shut off on me twice and restsrted both times. Then i pulled in and got gas and oil. It started up and drove for about 10 blocks, then just died. It coasted to a stop and thre CEL came on. It was a camshaft or crankshaft position sensor circuit error and woundnt turn over. When you turned the key all you heard was a click.
After I got it towed home, I tried to turn the motor by hand with a breaker bar and it won't move. I had someone tow me down the road in D, 3, 2, and 1st and same result. Afyer that, I soaked all 6 cylinders, without spark plugs, in ATF for 2 weeks and tried marvel's mystery oil after that. I pulled the valve covers and oil pan and there's nothing visibly wrong. I replaced the bank 2 camshaft position sensor and fixed a few questionable nicks in the harness. The truck still won't turn over. Is there anything that would mimic the truck being seized (not being able to turn the motor by hand) without it actually being seized?

*EDIT* Shit. I am sorry about the terrible spelling (goddammit, autocorrect) in that post. I had a couple too many shots of tequila, I guess.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
if it wont turn over by hand... thats not good. was the chain and guides factory or aftermarket? it sounds like the chain may have skipped time and valves may have kissed pistons

If you can't turn the crank by hand its likely
f--ked. Did it run out of oil somehow?

    Sorry..

A sensor problem will not physically lock up an engine, if you can't turn it with a bar something is mechanically wrong.
Your gona have to tear into it and see what happened.

I’d start by checking the timing again. Sounds like that’s your culprit. May of jumped time

The worst part is, if its auto, getting the engine out is way more difficult due to the converter bolts.

It's time for a full tear down. Valve covers and chain cover to start.

You let someone tow you in gear at 60 mph?!

What was that supposed to accomplish? If you were trying to kill an engine, you probably succeeded.

It is in neutral when you attempt this, correct?

And with the plugs out to prevent compression resistance?

If the engine can't spin, and you are in gear, this seems pretty unlikely.

As well as dangerous to even try.

Your soaking trick is helpful on engines that have corrosion from sitting for extensive time with no lubrication. Not helpful on a recently running engine that has just laid down.

Try (slow and easy) manually turning the engine backwards rotation. If the valves are in the way it should still turn a little.

Not sure how you managed to get towed 60mph, or why, in gear when the engine won't turn....you should explain that...

But, I ran into a timing chain issue when I rebuilt the engine in my 03 4runner where the aftermarket main chain tensioner casting was too thick, the bolt(s)? only had about 2 threads to engage the block. All else was the same so I machined the outboard surfaces to where they should be and used it, but contacted the supplier and they thought it might be a consolidation between the 3.5L (car) and 4.0L (truck) tensioners and claimed they'd look into it...dunno if they did. It was an ITM timing chain set. If running around with only a couple threads holding that tensioner on, good chance it came off. There's a little inspection panel in the timing cover (4 bolts) that you can pop off to get a look at the tensioner...it's pretty painless.

Slow and easy? No, he should tow it backwards at 70 mph in gear. That’s the only way to free it up.
