Is there a plug and play underhood light available?

Looking for underhood light options that don't involve drilling sheetmetal or cutting/splicing wires.

 

20 dollars, keep it in the console, good for working on any part of the truck, no modding required.

 

Second that. But mine is in the truck because I hike trails after dark and it is just too damned useful to not have around.

 

Can I get one that says TRD or MESO?

 

I'm going 3rd the head lamp...

but i mean you need two colors of wire, one red and one black. and the light itself. wire the red to the battery run to the lamp with a switch and 15a fuse in line. black ground to a random spot on the truck. you're set to go. unless you want to get fancy the wire a hood pin that once you open the hood the lamp comes on likely one of the easiest things you could wire up.

 

I have the Black Diamond "Storm" model. Red/green/blue light capable on a small LED element if you want, flashing option. About $45 if I recall.

 

Do you plan on constantly working on it? Chevy and ford have older trucks with them, I’m sure someone will trade to your tacoma

 

You can also get a cheap Nighlight brand LED light bar for $20-30, and put alligator clips to the wires and just clip them to each terminal.

 

Just plug it in and play

 

Hell yeah old school. I even have about 6 boxes of the now verboten light bulbs left.

 

Throw those poisonous light bulbs in the trash immediately!

 

Heck no not those spiral pieces of shite. Good ole 200 watt filament bulbs that get so hot they can double as egg cookers.

Used a push button switch

 

I second that. Except that I used KD Cyclone lights, as well as a hood contact switch plus a manual flip switch. (In other words, the hood must be open and the manual switch must be flipped, for the lights to go on.)

Headlamp is so easy, and universal.

 

I appreciate the suggestions. No doubt the headlamp is effective, but I like tinkering with my vehicles, which is why I'd like to add a permanent light to the truck.
