Is there a bed tarp available?

I'm not talking about a tonneau cover... What if I've dumped leaves and yard waste into my bed and just want a cover so things don't blow out? I'd think one could be available that snaps into the bed rails and is a little bit stretchy, then just toss it behind the rear seat when not in use?

Something like below, but it connects inside the bed?

Why use a tarp? I mean by the time you get to the dump, your bed should be empty, and that’s free

No way would I be using something like what's in your pic with all the bungie cables. Seems like a great way to scratch the paint.

Yeah but the compost site won't let me in without a covered load or if the stuff is in bags.

If you actually read my post, I'm looking for something that attaches internal to the bed. Like the rails.....

If you put multiple I bolts all along the bed rails you could put the tarp in the bed with most of it hanging off the tailgate, load up whatever you have, toss the tarp over the load to the front of the bed and use a large bungee net over the tarp hooking it to the previously mentioned I bolts.
Personally if its just leaves I would buy a large box of cheep 55 gallon trash bags and use those.

It's so much easier to dump the leaves and crap into the bed and smush them down than to fill up (and empty) a dozen or so bags.

    I like your idea.

OP, I've had the same thought myself. It's actually on my spring/summer to-do list to try to come up with something like this.

I'm curious why they won't let you in without a cover on the load? Is it because it's a long drive inside the compost site and they don't want the debris blowing out of the bed of your truck?

Ohh I buy cheep bags like these and have never though about emptying them out to use again. Filling a loose trash bag with leaves is a pain, I put my bag in a 45 gallon rubbermade brute trashcan, fill it up and tie the bag off, then remove the filled bag from the can and put another bag in the can and do it all over again.

Now if you want to be like the large scale landscapers you could get a big ass tarp(30x30 minimum) and rake/blow all the leaves onto the tarp then pull the corners together, run a strap through some of the grommet holes, tie it together and now you've got a giant bag of leaves you can toss in the truck bed.

I did this a few years ago.

The dump near St. Louis had the same requirements. I used a large blue tarp. I put it over the yard debris. I tucked to the edged down between the bedsides and the material. I then used some rather straight tree limbs that were about 5 inches in diameter so secure the tarp edges at all four sides.

    It worked very well.

Jfc some people are dense. Get like 8 t-nuts and eye bolts that match. Get a tarp, or some other material that will hold up, a grommet set, and hooks. Make it yourself, easy peasy

One big ass size tarp and set of bungee cords from HF.
Half of the tarp goes on the bottom, other half covers the load. Easy to unload.

Right.... I already put a tarp on the bottom, and just pull it out to unload. Then use my battery powered leaf blower to chase out the stragglers. It's the fastening of the tarp so it doesn't blow everywhere that can be optimized. The two hooks in the bed by the tailgate can be one fastening point in the rear, then either the bed rails or the two metal loops up front to secure the front of the tarp.

Yea sounds like it. I try something like this but it's kind of a hassle. I have a couple of 2x4 lengths to weigh it down but that's sketchy and the front always comes loose. I envision some kind of stretchy tarp that can keep things taut and not flap around.

Texas requires that all vehicles transporting loose material ensure that the material is covered and firmly secured at the front and back or else completely enclosed. The failure to do so is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $400. Our dump site, which is also where we can take recyclables and excess trash, won't allow uncovered loads to enter the facility.

    Indeed.

I get what you are saying. Imagine though the time savings if you just went without the bags, and just emptied your big trash can into the bed. Plus then you don't have to empty bags at the compost site. It's a time saver. Plus I can get more leaves and yard waste packed in without using bags.

At our up north place I have one of those cheap carry-on brand 5x8 trailers and I use your tarp method to an extent. I blow/rake the leaves onto the tarp, pull it up the trailer ramp, then pull the trailer into the woods with my ATV where I dump the leaves. Unfortunately things are a bit more buttoned down here in our little Texas town.

Make a bed taco for your taco... Big tarp in the bed that is large enough to fold over on top of the load. Put refuse in there. Fold over top and lace it together with the grommet holes. Pull it out, dump the insides, fold up and go home. Works with or without hot sauce.

If you figure this out post here. I’ve wanted something like this for a while. Only tarps I can find are way too big or too small.

Exactly! We need a tarp that lays on the bottom, attaches to the hooks on the floor near the tailgate, they wraps over the top of the contents and hooks to the bedrail or the front hooks on the side of the bed up front. Ideally it's a little flexy and stretches over the load.

    Someone invent this please.

I wonder if you could just get a tarp wide enough to hook to the bed rail, lay on bed, wrap around load, and hook back to same bed rail. Like a garbage burrito.

I don’t have a flat bed so i can’t do the lay down piece. I want something that’ll hook to the front hooks then both bed rails. Like a tonneau but a tarp.

I went a different route. The HF chipper. It paid for itself after two seasons of collecting brush, and NOT having to haul it to the dump.

The neighbors absolutely love being awakened by this rattlebeast.

Failing that, just use a normal 8x10 tarp. Lay it along the bottom of the bed, the long section goes sideways and the short side goes longways. You want the edge next to the fender well so that when you are done loading your brush you can wrap and tuck it like a giant burrito. Then bungee across the top, corner tie-down to corner tie-down. When you get to the dump you just lower the gate and pull a side. Boom, one-motion unload, like a dollar-store magician. And no bed to sweep up.
