Is the labor cost for this lift too high?

I'm new to lifts and lift kits. This seems way too expensive for labor right? Up top is the cost of the kit the shop put together for me from toytec I'm probably going to drop a level on the AAL and control arm. Please see picture for the quote..

That's a high labor rate. That's usually what German car mechanics charge.

And 14 hours if labor seems a lot too.

If I remember correctly, the average cost of labor is around $80/hour. I think 4WP is like $110/hour. 14 hours is a bit much. Is that actual hours or man hours? Should take at most 6 or 7 hours, not including the alignment.

Everything listed above is relatively simple to install. I cannot recommend enough for you to install your own lift. It's really not that hard, you'll learn a lot about your truck, and it'll build your confidence to take on bigger projects.

I installed my lifts, both OME and Dakars and then Kings. Just yesterday I installed a lift on a Tundra; coils, shocks, full brake replacement, and AAL.

Invest in a torque wrench, a good jack and stands, and a decent socket set and you'll save money hand over fist.

    Yesterday's Tundra

Wow, what shop is this thats trying to bend you over? Try SWAT in Fremont. I was quoted 750 for labor a few months back.
    Buy parts yourself.
Tell whoever these guys are to pound sand. 14 hours for a pro shop to install a straightforward lift is asinine. $60 "recycle"?? And 140 to retorque?

To put this in perspective, I spent less than your estimate for Icon stage3, sliders, grill, and 33" tires and SCS wheels.

You can buy a lot of tools and learn to work on your truck for that kind of money. WOW!

For sure thank you guys so much I wasn't going to go with them anyways. That labor is super expensive I'm gonna look for another shop here in the Bay Area. Your guys time and advice is greatly appreciated

They should be including the ECGS bushing update for that price, too.

I'm well aware that my installation cost was high, and I paid $957 to get my lift installed (shocks, UCAs, new leafs). That included alignment, too!

Jesus christ, that's a rip-off. They probably knew you were new to lifting and all around working on your truck, which is probably why they tried to stiff you. Please don't get it done at this shop.

That is a ridiculously high labor bill....but if you ask they'll probably tell you it's 'book hours'.

Wow thanks guys for the quick responses I'm definitely going to look at other shops and or the mod day. Looks like I'll order the kit from toytec myself to keep on hand.

If you Cali boys are like us in Colorado you'll help a brother out.. 12 pack, a garage, some tools and some helping hands and you're good.. Learn a thing or 2 while you're at it
1/2 the cost of the lift . Yikes

There's always regional differences, and you'll pay more at better shops.

My first go around with suspension, I had a local tire/alignment shop do my front/rear shocks and 3 leaf AAL for $250, took them about 4 hours. Threw an alignment in for an even $300. Had another guy on here do my UCAs for $150.

Second go around I installed it myself, but yeah...that's way too high a rate if you ask me

I’m paying around $700 tomorrow to get 5100’s all around, 2888 ome coils compressed and installed, and a 1.5 inch block in the rear. That’s including an alignment too

Sounds about right. That was one of the quotes I got, but the shop that offered it screwed up an installation on a friends truck so I passed.

He lost a bolt somewhere on White Rim thanks to those clowns...
