I’m ready to throw down some hard earned cash on a new suspension. I was quoted about $3300 installed for an Icon stage 2( plus a few upgrades) lift. I did some shopping around and there are much less expensive lifts around (OME, Dobinson etc). I don’t mind spending the extra money if it’s that much better, but is it worth it?

I daily drive my truck about 35 miles to work. I drive on easy to moderate trails, nothing extreme, or fast for that matter. I explore the deserts and mountains looking for fish and game. My truck is pretty heavy right now, with a camper shell and all of my gear that I carry. I’ll be adding an ARB front bumper and winch and I also tow a 4000# camper trailer. My current set up isn’t cutting it. What do you guys think?

I just spent 6 times as much as you're considering on the set up and it's far from perfect and I have top of the shelf stuff put on. I had bp51s prior to that and it was pretty rough riding with very limited travel. Had Icon on another vehicle and it was so so, had to rebuild often as well perhaps if it had the adjusters it would have been nicer set up but you won't get those with stage 2. best advice I can give is you have to see if you can find someone with a set up you're considering and test drive it and than make a decision. You'll get guys that will swear by king or fox or icon... they are all pretty much doing the same thing it's almost a matter of preference and customer service

Which components did you go with?

It’d be helpful to know what doesn’t work and it’s rare when folks are honest about poor results after spending a lot of loot

It’s too soon to tell yet it’s still being dialed in so I don’t want to bash on something that hasn’t been completely worked out. Currently I’m
Having issues with getting it aligned keep running into steering wheel being off and it pulling. Component are tc 2+ racekit Kings dual front with 3ple bypass front and rear Kings 2.0 stops in the rear archive hangers and relocate towers and atlas leaf under.

Icon, Fox, King, ADS are all “worth the money” if you’re willing to spend the money. You certainly don’t need to, judging by the way you said you use your truck. You don’t need the fancy stuff but if you don’t mind spending the money, then go for it! Humble Bilsteins get the job done also but for a fraction of the price. Go ride in a truck that has a setup you’re after and see for yourself. You may not be all that impressed, or maybe you’ll be just begging for Icon to take your money. I dunno!

Edit: you carry all that weight and commute a lot, then go for some fancy bits. You can buy king extended travel front coilovers for about $1400 and the rears are cheaper. Then just make sure you have a proper leaf pack rated for the weight you carry & enjoy the new ride. Remember though. Much of the high end shocks need to be rebuilt depending on how you use them/mileage. Somewhere in a ballpark of 20-50k miles or so. GENERAL BALLPARK. varies with use and mileage

You'd be happy with OME for your usage. Cheaper simpler and without the maintenance interval

I do similar driving and went with Fox 2.0 coils in the front and a headstrong 3 leaf AAL rear (with 2.0 remote shocks). I have a topper, racks and gear, bike rack, etc. Works great. Not sure about the front - you may want 2.5s with the bumper. Love my setup and still drives quite nicely on the highway. I've got about 30k miles on it. Went with 275/17 to avoid chopping.

Shiiiiiiiit I drive 24 miles a day and had 5100/887's for years. Only upgraded because I wanted to, and added some armor and a winch up front. Also a RTT under the Softopper. Went with all Kings just because, no other real reason except I don't think I have seen a thread on this forum complaining about Kings or the Customer Service. Love the ride it's like a Cadillac compared to the 887/5100 Combo. Do you need it probably not, but who cares. If you want it do then do it.

What did that setup cost and do they need to be rebuilt ?

    Which A arms are those?

For me the stock OR suspension is plush, and with a dirt bike in the bed It feels too soft and sits a bit low

Dude you could literally save thousands of dollars by doing some OME 886's up front on some Nitrocharger 90000's, with some OME shocks in the rear and Dakar leaf springs. Get some SPC upper control arms too, easy. That's more than enough for daily driving on pavement and some light offroad use.

I think about $1k for parts and labor shouldn't be more than $600

There’s also the Bilstein 6112/5160 combo. They’re pretty reasonably priced. A thread about them here...https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bilstein-6112.421995/

Every single installer I have talked to in the last six months have said icon is trash. All have said are the best Kings follow closely by Fox.

Take it for what’s its worth.

Seen lots of threads with people unhappy with ICON's product and Customer Service. Haven't seen a couple of King thread yet.
