The trucks also have active grille shutters that close when it's hot. I guess that directs more air over the intercooler and to the intake. Why make the grill that large to begin with?

Cooling can be achieved through the bumper too, no need for a massive grill.

Toyota still does it with the LC70, intercooled turbo diesel. Yet for some reason they feel the need to over stylize the US trucks.

There are so many trucks I want over here. Too bad all of them have diesels so it goes against U.S EPA :(

Inexpensive, real trucks, and far more capable than the inexpensive Ford Maverick. The Hilux starts out at 24K for instance, and it pricier than many of other UTES.

We can thank the Big 3 for lobbying against foreign trucks, even though their own trucks aren't even built in the U.S any longer. Hypocrites and why I won't buy a big 3 truck---because they hate Americans!

Instead of making trucks better, they cut cost to gain massive profits. Instead of increasing quality, they spend that money to paid lobbyists instead. Imagine if the U.S military did that with their own trucks instead.

Unfortunately with everything going EV sooner rather than later, it will never happen, diesel on its way out, even Toyota is adopting their euro diesels to 100% bio fuel. Whether or not that is better for the environment is debatable.

    https://newsroom.toyota.eu/toyotas-...o-be-made-compatible-with-hvo100-diesel-fuel/

EVs crush petrol and diesel engines for performance, hopefully they can get range and recharge time on par. Really like the Rivian, styling and performance wise. Cost too much, and mostly useless bed length. Can have an awfully nice F350 for cheaper.

Dirt bike buddy who currently owns a F150, said he is getting a Tundra next because more parts are made in the US. Ford has too many Chinese parts in it. And so does Toyota, they give you a massive list of what they don’t manufacture when you buy a new one.

Even though I think the new Toyotas are butt ugly, probably stick with them. My ‘21 3rd Gen only has 35K on it, be awhile before I wear it out, perhaps they’ll tone down the styling by then.

Overall, I think the 3rd Gen Tacoma looks amazing. However, even back in 2016, I thought it looked too skinny (especially the bed) (compared to the HiLux) and even though it is a mid-size truck, I wanted it to look more like a full-size truck. Even the new Tacoma has a smaller payload than the HiLux.

I wish the Gen 4 Tacoma exterior design was a beefier Gen 3 Tacoma. A slight tweak to the exterior of the Gen 4 and it would be perfect! Less boxy, no stupid cabin curve, higher approach angle and ground clearance, and a few other changes, and bam, perfect looking mid-size truck!

That curved cab on the XC would look weird with a service body behind it.

The 4G might not look bad with a high clearance front tube bumper.

Funny thought the 3rd was a bit much when it first came out, it has grown on me, still think the grill is awful. Though it rides nice and do like the interior much better than my 1st Gen. Have been driving them back to back lately, gotta say the new stuff is so much better. Willing to bet as soon as I test drive a 4th Gen I’ll put the looks aside.

Same thing when I drove the latest Tundra, don’t like how it looks, but it sure drives quite nice! Dunno, Tundra might be my next truck. In all reality spend much more time inside of it, to the tune of roughly 20-25K miles a year, than I do sitting outside looking at it.

Besides ugly, don't like those high bed-sides either, looks like you would need a ladder to reach over to grab something from the bed.

It does. Ranger looks to have high besides, but it is deceiving. Neighbor has one and that is not the case.

My buddy’s F350 however, no wonder they put steps on those things.

Not really hard to understand. I never own a truck, much less a Toyota truck. Actually, I did own a Toyota pickup---but it was part of my previous RV. Think it was a T100.

I don't rehearse what I need to say because I speak my mind. Love it or hate it, I wish everybody was like this. Who cares what others think.

If you cannot understand why waiting for my first ever dream vehicle purchase is driving me crazy, then I don't know what to tell you. Have you not ever been excited for anything in your life?

Most folks here already have Tacoma so of course the wait isn't killing you guys. It isn't for me.

Some people here don't like people on here who have feelings it seems. I remember the anticipation of getting my FRS brand new. Great day!

Nice! I wanted the new GR86, but the RTV issue has pulled me away. And the RTV issue affects every single BRZ/GR86. Some have more RTV than others, but every single one has RTV issues.

Even before the RTV issue, my dad was like Haha, no way you are buying a vehicle without a bed! He couldn't be more right! Trucks are truly the ultimate utility vehicle.

Have own Toyotas for 30 plus years, and drove myself nuts trying to decide what to get before I bought my new truck. Even though I love my 3rd Gen, constantly look at other vehicles. Always been like that since I can remember, years ago it used to be picking up Auto Traders at the Gas and Sip, and browse that endlessly. Think it is part of being a dude and an automotive nutter.

Now I cruise the Race-Dezert classifieds…among many others.
