Basically the title. I am working on my truck and I’m looking into things to improve and make it run better stock but my mind has wondered and though when I get it running really well would it be worth it? I don’t even know how much the engine could take to even think about what I could do so any thoughts?

Only if you're wanting to drop serious coin on it.. the 2rz is capable of accepting some respectable power but there's nothing that is an "easy" bolt on option.

here's one that makes me want to build up a 2.4 https://youtu.be/wW6mUGudUa4

What if I only wanted to just double the horse power and that’s it? Like 250-300 range

Regretfully these aren't like old school American hot rods, where you could just bolt on a bigger intake and headers and gain 50 horsepower. These lil 4 bangers are extremely well built and efficient from factory so a major build up is still required to get any noticeable power. Then a turbo.

Most drag versions I've seen with take the crank and connecting rods out of a 3rz to make their 2rz a stroker motor, then they slap a turbo on after that. Don't waste time and money on a supercharger in my opinion there's not enough noticeable oomph to gain
