I originally was going to get the trd sport or off road but am wondering if the pro is worth it?

I would be buying the sport or off-road premium package

the only thing is I hate the snorkel. But they can come without the snorkel now.. right?

    What does 'worth it' mean?

What are you going to be using it for? Not really sure what the Pro has over the Offroad, except for "better" shocks, hood scoop, wheels, grille, lights. I think you get the front camera too.
Is that worth the $5k (or whatever) extra?

Pretty much sums it up. If you can get it at or below MSRP and are not planning on modding it much, then I’d say yes, it’s worth it.

I built a trd off road premium to what I liked. The price was not far off of the pro they had in the show room. A 2019 pro with no dorkel on it. Ended up with the pro, and got it a little below msrp too.

I don't take my truck snorkeling. Neither should you! Get the Pro if you can swing it.

Coming from a 2017 OR to the 2020 Pro, yes, I thought it was worth it. The fox shocks are far superior over the OR shocks. That and the 360° camera that comes stock was also a nice touch. I like to go big, so rather than find a truck that had all the packages I wanted, I opted for the pro. I also don't live anywhere close to dealerships that give markups, so YMMV.

Guy on the first page posted he's leasing(employee discount) a pro that has a sticker of $54K.

$50K is a big number for a Taco. I don't think dealer will budge much from sticker now.

    A few.
If ur getting a premium trd the msrp is only going to be about $3000 less than the Pro. I would get the Pro if u can find the color u like without a dealer markup.

Most of the TRD Pro is purely cosmetic. Its basically the same truck as the TRD Off Road functionality wise except for the suspension, beefier skid plate, and lighter wheels (which you can order for any truck).

They both have the same tires, crawl control, locking rear differential, engine, transmission (no MT in the pro), etc.

The exhaust is a little different as well, but it doesn't really do much other than change the sound a bit.

Basically, unless cosmetics are that important to you, the only real upgrade is the suspension.

    This is where I am.

I don't know if the Pro is "worth it" but it is what I'm getting. Other than new tires immediately I'll be running mine stock until things need to be replaced.

If I could get an Offroad DC with the manual in Canada I would have likely gone with that, however. There's more value in the OR than the Pro in my opinion.

The Pro drives better than the rest of the line. As mentioned the suspension is much better than the OR. If you can swing it you will not be disappointed.

    2021 Silver DCLB Off Road
Pro: Better shocks, LED Lightning, Leather Seating with bum warmers, Sunroof.

I'm 6'3" with a long torso, so I need every inch of headroom. So I didn't want a sunroof as I am a tight fit (sunroof sits Higher, but that getting in out our I bumped the dip around the sunroof). I had the leather and bum warmer in my 2019 Highlander and liked them. The irony is I bought an OR in Colorado and drove back to Texas. I missed those bum warmers, but the majority of the year not needed.

Aftermarket suspension: no warranty on suspension, steering rack, etc. The PRO is a decent factory setup. I'd like skinny 31" KO2's but keep stock wheels/tires, so I have issues. All stock goes on, but this means no other changes first few years (I've added skid plates and sliders for rock protection).

I wanted a DCLB, near impossible to find in Texas. I kept expanding my search and found more Off Roads than PRO. When I found a PRO, the dealer was getting over MSRP. Found a dealer in Colorado who had the Off-Road, would accept my trade-in for a great price, and it worked. Ya, I wish I had gotten the LED Headlights. The truck had many "Port Installed" items but was still much better of a deal than any local dealer would do. So drove 700 miles to drop off the Highlander and come home in the Tacoma. I missed those bum warmers!

Autotrader is what I used for a search tool. Test drive everything you can, work with the dealer with who you did the test drive but realize you may go out of state for the version you want. If you go out of state, have everything ready (VIN#, out the door pricing). Let the out-of-state dealer arrange to finance. Just make sure no penalty for early payoff off so if interest is insane, a local credit union can refinance (dealers make money selling the loans). In my case, it was either a $1000 rebate of 1.9% finance rate, the dealer had a 2.19% rate, so I went with that and used $1000 towards the purchase.

We were doing simulated crawling (6x6 blocks of wood down a dirt driveway). It is extremely noisy outside the truck when the ABS pump is kicking in. Foot off the gas and brake, and it just rolls over those in crawl mode, but I had no idea how noisy that was (it's quieter inside the cab).

I wished I had the load capacity of the Tundra, but I like the smaller Tacoma size for those darn Parking Garages I have to fit into. "Rock Sliders" no, those are running boards to prevent door dings!

I started with a blank slate on the Toyota build site. It turned out that the features I wanted -- and didn't want -- led me straight to the TRD Sport. The Pro wasn't even in the running. Price had nothing to do with it.

This is a thread that has been asked over and over again. In reality you should have an idea on what your plans are for the truck, you’re already wanting the premium so the next question would be plans for a lift anytime soon? If you want it straight from the lot with no plans of upgrading anything except maybe some slightly bigger AT’s then go with the any of them. If you want to throw on a lift and possibly save some money then get the Off Road or Sport. Also you need to know if you want Crawl Control or not. Pro and OR have it but the sport doesn’t. That is a very small list of many variables for your question. Instead of going into the OR, Sport, or Pro better debate it’s best to know what you have in mind for now or near future, do some research and have a good mindset on what you want to do with it. If you are a cash buyer who can do whatever you want whenever you want without remorse then you have endless options. Once you have your research complete you should have your own answer.

I've never understood this. Everyone has a different situation. OP could already be living paycheck to paycheck, or could be a pro athlete. To me, a modest middle-class man,,,,, not worth it.

My truck is a TRD Off Road with premium and advanced tech package. So it has cameras and all that. When I was looking I they were not discounting the TRD Pros at all so you had to pay full MSRP, but my off road I got for $2700 under invoice.

If I was comparing MSRP to MSRP the Pro probably would have been worth it, but when you factor in the discounts on a TRD Off Road/Sport they are a lot more appealing.
