Is my white 2015 Tacoma a real "TRD Pro"

Hi all,

I'm brand new here. I just upgraded from my 2001 Tacoma to a 2015 White Tacoma Dbl cab.

I found it at a dealership and it looked exactly like a TRD Pro. It has the Grill, Pro rims, Skid plate, badges, etc. I just figured it was a clone... especially since it wasn't priced like an actual TRD Pro. From what I understand there were only like 1500 of these Pro's made in 2015?

Anyhow, I pulled the carfax on it using the VIN before I purchased it. The Carfax listed it as a TRD Pro. I still wasn't convinced it was a TRD Pro but went ahead and purchased it (payed $23k, has 55k miles and it's spotless!)

Today I call my insurance company, gave them the VIN and had them add it to my policy... I just pulled my account up online and my insurance added it to my policy as a "TRD Pro" They have never seen the truck in person or a photo and did this only off the VIN.
If my VIN has come back twice from different places (insurance and Carfax) listed as a Pro is this truck really a TRD Pro?? The dealership didn't have it listed or advertised as a Pro.

Would love any advice you all can offer.

 

Does it have a locker and what shocks are on there?

If those match up then even if it were a clone you’d have a pretty real PRO..

 

Did you buy it from a Toyota dealer? If not, take it to one and have them run the Vin. They'll pull up the trim details and options for your specific truck.

I believe there were 2015 PRO's made in the inferno color and super white. I've seen a white one like that listed for sale here. I'm almost positive that is a PRO. Super clean truck man, great deal.

 

Not a pro. Pros had different headlights and your missing the suspension. Also they have a different shifter too than the normal TRD’s

 

I could have sworn the bezel in headlights were smoked on a Pro

@15-White-Tacoma That looks to be a TRD Sport with a Pro grille and Pro wheels.

 

So looks like you guys were right. I went to the Toyota owner’s website and put in my VIN. looks like a TRD Sport correct?

So why is Carfax and my insurance pulling the vin and listing it as a Pro?

I bought the vehicle from the Toyota dealership that the original owner purchased it from and had all of his service done there. The dealer said the owner never had anyone outside of the dealership touch the vehicle. So I assume he had the dealership add on all of those extras?

So I’m learning I’m a fake. Dang!

 

So what does a true Pro have over this vehicle?
Different headlights, shifter and suspension?

Pro suspension look like these not the yellow/blue which came w off road/sport models.

 

^Yep that's the pro suspension. As others have mentioned I totally forgot about the blacked out bezels. Looks like it is a TRD Sport. Still a great truck man- you didn't overpay for it or anything like that

 

The reason the carfax says TRD pro is because someone at the dealer just clicks it vs going through the menu. Toyota vin codes are odd with a lot automated systems. They are all base models then you have to pick the trim level. When I bought mine it was listed as a base model v6 when it was a TRD OR.
