Is it worth it to get headers?

I'm asking this to people who actually have them, is there a noticeable difference in performance? I'm about to do my exhaust and i'm stuck on what to do exactly. Seems like DT LT or JBA LT are the most popular, i don't want to do just the exhaust and then kick myself for not getting the headers done at the same time. Thanks for the feedback

SC w/urd pulley, afe cai, URD LT's, TRD cat back. 375hp. Custom logos, tonneau cover, westin bar with piaa lights, aero force gauges, custom front air dam, Westin step bars.
I installed DTLTs on my 06 4.0. First couple of things I noticed-

    1. Low end went away some, off the line acceleration.
    2. Mid and upper range improved, which helped with passing
    3. Mpg's went up slightly
    4. With the magnaflow muffler and stock exhaust it has an annoying drone!!! I'm told a vibrant resonater will help reduce this but have not done it so far.

I installed the headers because one of my front cats attached to the stock exhaust manifold went bad and it was cheaper to buy the headers then one exhaust manifold. If doing it yourself get a helper and be prepared to soak the existing bolts overnight in some break free lube. And get ready to fill up the swear jar!

No, there are definitely engine enhancements but most people don't stop at just the headers hence the list of mods included with most of those dyno sheets.

I'll let the shop deal with it, haha thanks for the tips though. Always nice to see someone's experience with them before making my decisions!

I'm going to be installing my CAI and re-doing a full exhaust system with it, not just doing headers. I guess i could always add them down the road, figured it would be less cost at the shop if i got it all done at the same time

I have the JBA LT's with stock y-pipe plus TRD catback and I am very happy with the performance and sound. There is no drone or rasp whatsoever just the sound of sweetness. I also noticed a drop in low end torque so I installed the manifold spacer this past weekend and it has helped to recover the low end torque that I lost. Plenty of power to spin the tires. LT's + catback or muffler + manifold spacer = :D

I have a post similar to yours that I had put up before noticing this one...I am looking at doing very similar mods to my 2013 TRD Sport. Forgive my ignorance, as I am new to this, but by manifold spacer, are you talking about a throttle body spacer or a spacer that is down towards the headers somewhere? Did you get any kind of check engine alarms? Thanks for the help.

Sorry so slow to respond. The intake manifold spacer thread is here.http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/performance-tuning/202857-intake-manifold-spacer-4-0l-coming.html

It works. It restored the low end torque that I lost with the LT's and cat-back.
