Was wondering if it would be safe to run two different sets of shocks from front to rear. I currently have the fabtech coilovers that utilize the stock front springs and have no problems, but the rear is a different story. Im getting new leaf springs and the fabtech shocks that are in the back are leaking. Iv already replaced them both once and now there leaking... not sure what the problem is, plus the ride quality isent so good from the rear as well. so i was thinking about going with a different brand in the rear like Bilstin and keep the fabtechs in the front. Any ideas would be great

    Yes, you can
Edit: Depending on what kind of wheeling you do, they may act differently because the valving will be different

    whatever floats your boat.

only thing is make sure the shock lengths are the correct ones for your new springs and you will be good.

as for what brand...that depends on your budget. and how your going to use your truck

I run OME in the front and Bilstein in the rear. No issues.
There is no problem with running different brand shocks front/ rear.

I run sway a way in the rear, Fox coilovers and King triples up front. For all intents and purposes, they are all the same thing. Important thing is the valving.

Cool well beings that its ok to run two different brands of shocks maybe you guys can give me some advice on what brand of shock to go with. I went off roading/trail riding last weekend and i have to say the ride was pretty rough lol. especially from the rear. To give you an example my friend has an 08 4runner with a mild 2-3" lift, he has upgraded coilovers in the front and he pretty much smoked me when it came to trail blazing. The trails were damn rough and i know he had to be taking them at 20 - 25 mph. The fastest i could go was 15 because the ride just got to rough for my comfort (dident want to break anything ). Anyway id like to go with a shock that can take the edge off the roughness. Even on the highway its a rough riding truck. So id like to go somewhere in the middle i guess as far as both on and off road smoothness. Im getting Deaver 6" leaf springs for Christmas and from what i hear the new pre bent leaf springs will smoothen out the ride substantially, but would also like to compliment the new springs with a good quality shock that WONT leak and will deliver a nice ride when on road and trail blazing. As far as the front i think im stuck with what i have unless there is a strut out there that will replace my fabtech 6" struts up front.
