As the title says, I was wondering if it is a bad idea to not run center caps on aftermarket wheels. I personally dont like the way they look on my truck, but I dont want to subject myself to any damage.

This is what happens to your truck when you run center caps:

My black wheels came with dark grey caps and sometimes I run them and other times I don’t because the color mismatch annoys me.

Access to your front hub bearing is sealed behind a domed cap so you don’t really need the center caps and it becomes an asthetic issue up to you if you like them or not.

Just make sure you paint the hubs before putting the wheels back on. Nothing annoys me more than seeing a badass set of wheels with rusty ass hubs showing.

embarrassingly enough when I went to go take mine off, this is what I saw and immediately put them back on...
    :annoyed:
Hopefully, I will find some time soon to paint them but I need to get my suspension put on first that has been laying around the garage...

Shit, I just put painters tape over my wheel studs, and primed and painted. No prep and has held up great for two years now.

true but I also ran into the problem that underneath the center caps the rim is still silver. Which I also didn't like the look of. So I would have to paint that too. I was bummed when I saw that too because it almost seems like an unfinished job on the wheel manufacturers behalf...
