Good morning everyone. I tried searching but couldn't find a straight answer for my question. I have a 2020 tacoma with the non JBL 8" entune head unit. I recently upgraded the tweeters to kicker subaru and the front doors to kicker ks series 6x9 3 ways. The sound is much improved.

What I am wondering is if I decided to add an amp like the audiocontrol 4 channel that is 125wx4 RMS, Can the factory speaker wires handle it as is or do I need to upgrade to a thicker gauge wire? How high can you go before the factory speaker wiring is insufficient?

Not for that amount of power.

50w rms is probably about as high as I’d personally go. 75w is probably pushing it

I will also say, I’m running Kicker KS series in my truck and my amp does 50w RMS. 50% volume makes my ears hurt.

once i'm adding an amp, i don't personally re-use the oem speaker wire, regardless of wattage. it's only a little more work to run my own wire, and i've already got the vehicle apart for the amp install.
