Is an alignment required after a suspension swap?

I just finished swapping my 2011 Sport front coils/struts and rear struts with those removed from a third gen Off Road*. I followed the steps from this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8JAA-6_WCU ) video precisely. The swap went well and everything feels great (yes, it is an improvement). However, I am curious if an alignment is required after doing the swap. I did remove the upper ball joint nut (as shown in the video at ~3:40) but I did not remove/swap the UCAs. Everything feels normal/fine, I think. Is an alignment required whenever suspension is swapped or removed? Only required if removing the UCAs? Only if ride quality feels off? Better be safe than sorry and just pay for one anyways?
I am curious when an alignment is necessary, when it's a good idea, and when it is definitely not necessary.

tldr; swapped my second gen suspension for third gen suspension. UCAs not swapped. is an alignment necessary?

*EDIT: Replacement shocks are from a third gen OR, and were put on a 2011 Sport.

Yes, but only because the struts are a different length in the front between gens.

Edit: when I added a spacer to the front of my 3rd gen (1/2”) I had an alignment done to be safe and it was out very minor, not enough to notice but I’m sure over time may have caused some unnecessary tire wear.

Interesting. While I can follow youtube instructions and wrench on my own, alignment is something I never read about in depth. I realize there are plenty of threads on the subject here, but would you expand on your answer.

Also, given the length of the third gen struts, should I tell the shop to perform the alignment as if my truck were a third gen Off Road*.

*The third gen struts I used were from an OR and the truck originally had Sports.

I don’t know how else to expand on it. I just know that because you raised the front slightly, the geometry is off slightly. I don’t know much about alignments, that’s foreign language lol.

I would just tell them you updated the suspension and want to make sure it’s aligned properly.

As said here, post lift your front tires are at a different operating geometry so you could have funny wear or wandering from caster being changed. I aligned mine because alignments are cheaper than tires.
