these sales companies try to make it sound in their advertisements like you NEED to buy their cover,
    to make the truck survive.
To "improve the cooling" of the factory diff by installing their aftermarket cover that has cooling fins built into it.

    Is this BS?

I can't even find any of that type for Tacoma's (the other time being simply armor versions for off-roading)
seems like more of a full-size truck thing, ie Dodge Ram, etc.

Our diffs don’t have a removable cover like this.. the ring and pinion comes out the front side of the housing as an assembly.

As for cooling I wouldn’t see it make a huge difference unless you done a lot of hauling maybe:notsure:. On full size trucks Some people plum coolers with pumps into there diffs when they’re concerned about heat. Some gm cars like the camaro zl1 do this as well for performance reasons.

I put armor on mine that acts like a heat sink too- it just bolts on - RCI

I believe Banks did a study on this.
If you are interested it’s on YouTube.
    It’s really in-depth.

I don’t understand. This only covers the rear side of the diff, wouldnt the most likely possible damage be from a big rock hitting the front?

I’m trying to hear what you’re all saying but my damn diff is howling and distracting me on my drive back to Toyota.

Diff armor might be needed depending on the terrain you offroad on .. and how hard you wheel .. but tons of guys running the factory rear diff setup without any issues.

Toyotas (trucks at least) dont have removable diff covers, there is now where you would bolt this to.

Yeah, this type of cover won't work on your truck. The third member comes out from the front so the rear cover is not replaceable.... there is no rear cover.
Spend your money on something else. I would suggest ammo or beer.....and in that order.

Those rear diff covers are for the wheel-spacer and spacer-block-lift crowd.

I was going to mention that series. He made a big point of pointing out how critical the shape of the housing is for proper oil flow. And how a lot of aftermarket covers really F that up. Not relevant to our trucks, but still interesting.
