So I want to buy a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, but there are a couple flaws.
    It has 3.4l 4wd 255k miles.
The owner has owned the truck for 5 years. The owner drives it a good amount of miles each day. (Before he decided he wanted to sell it) The owner has al changed the oil every 3000 miles. He says the the truck runs excellent. The Frame is shot with rust though.
Truck has a bed cap too.
So I'm wondering a couple things:
    1. Is it worth it to buy the truck?
    2. Is 255k miles bad fkr a 96 Tacoma?

I just traded my 1999 prerunner in and it had 330,000 and ran good. Frame rust could be a big deal tho.

Have to see how severe it is, it could be repairable if it's not to far gone.

damn... I hate to see a good truck go to the wrecking yard but the frame being rusted is a deal breaker... it is only worth X number of dollars even though you put X + lots more into her. For $100 I would be all over it more than that is diminishing returns.

NO!!! Don't even think about buying that truck if the frame has ANY rust. Unless you are pretty good at welding and have the patience to fix it I would avoid it.

One never knows about mileage it all depends on how it got there .

I looked at one poor truck with @ 50,000 miles that never had one lick of maintenance.

When the low oil pressure light came on the owner topped off the oil .

But the inside and outside were spotless the owner figured that was more important spending hours on that

Keep on looking unless you need another hobby; sounds like a lot of work (or love depending on your perspective).

The rust will be an issue depending on how bad it is, it's not about the miles but how it was maintained
