Hey guys. New owner. Searched but can’t find what I’m looking for. I’m sure they’re out there, but I’m looking for an easy way to dock my phone for CarPlay. I don’t need to see the phone, so looking for something like this. Also, I’m looking for wired connection rather than wireless. Any leads. Sorry if this is a newbie repeat question…

ETA: Looking for a dock with an integral lightning connector to keep things streamlined. The one in the picture has the connector built in so you just drop the phone down onto it and go.

You could always try your luck making a post requesting a 3d design/print. A user here was kind enough to design a charging pad for someone, and another user offered to print them for a couple of us who requested them.

Yours would be more difficult I’d imagine but not insurmountable for someone who was motivated and had the means. I imagine it would just rest in the cup holder and help obscure the extra cable that would be run up to the usb port?

The one in the picture was 3d printed by someone on Etsy. I think the center divider in the cup holder pops out and this thing pops in. Only for BMWs though. It was only 35 bucks. Maybe I’ll contact them and see if they would make one for the Tacoma. Just figured it would already be out there somewhere.

So, I contacted the Etsy seller that makes the one in the picture. They may develop one for the Tacoma. I'll post updates if this moves forward.

WeatherTech makes a universal cup holder phone dock that works fairly well also

Too low for my phone. But if they made a hula girl mount, I’m in.

Link pulls up weather tech car mats. Do you have a link to the phone doc? Yeah, these are low mounts...not really for using the phone as a GPS or anything, just an easy way to doc it and connect up with CarPlay. I've barely had the truck, but having to fish for the wire and plug in every time I get in/out is a real first world problem needing a solution

I might have missed it, but I don't see any on their website that function as a dock where the lightning connector is integral. They all appear to be the typical cupholder type mounts. Let me know if I missed it.

I don’t think Weathertech makes one with an integrated charger. Just the usual cup holder mount.

Do you have a link to the Etsy bmw iPhone holder? I could use one for the M8 I have on order. OEM wireless charger in a BMW is just a hot plate for an iPhone.

That is a terrible idea, especially on a truck. sooner or later that thing is going to directly cause the connector or the port on your phone is going to get busted.

And besides...stop looking at your effing phone while driving. Don't tell me it's not to look at your phone while driving, there's no other reason to have it propped up like that.

    Ok, I'll ignore the troll...

Anyhow, the Etsy seller just messaged me and said they ordered a Tacoma cupholder off eBay and they are going to make something. They also said it will take some time since it requires several iterations to develop.

Let me search for that link to the original BMW dock. I'll post it shortly. Just to be clear, I've never bought anything from this seller and can't speak for their quality.

definitely, he has zero to add, except shitty comments. He has to be on the top 10 (or 5) ignored members here.

I suggested to the seller that the dock would probably work better on the left side of the cupholder to better clear the USB port when the phone is docked. What do you all think about that location?
