Just got the new iPhone 12 Pro Max yesterday (it barely fits but it does fit) and it won’t charge when in the leather case (Apple). It charges without a case though. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have the Apple silicone case and does it work?

Did you get the MagSafe charger? I have a 12 (regular) with a silicone Apple case and it works great with the Apple MagSafe wireless charger

I’m referring specifically about the wireless charger built into the truck. My 11 Pro max charges just fine (also using the Apple leather case) and the 12 pro max charges without a case but once the case is on, no go. I’m wondering if the mag safe part of the case is somehow interfering with the trucks ability to charge.

Can confirm the iPhone 12 does not charge with a case on.

Wireless charging on the 12 is MagSafe, so doesn’t work with a case.

My iPhone Pro Max does not charge with a clear case installed, it’s plastic..... charges just fine without it. I ordered a different case to see if it will charge.

My 12 pro doesn’t charge in the truck with the case on. I have to plug it in to charge it. Which means I had to buy another adapter. Stupid.

I have a new iPhone 12 mini with a UAG Civilian case and it charges on the trucks charging mat with the case on.

I don’t have a 12, but my phone doesn’t charge unless it’s right on the driver side corner towards the shifter. Any other place, it won’t charge.

I had a i phone 8 plus before with like 5 charges, 3 in the house, 1 in the garage and 1 in the truck but now they use the usb c so I was just bitching that I had to buy all new adapters haha.

Keep using the original. It'll just charge slower. They all still use lightning.

If interested, One other comment about MagSafe... my phone has it, my UAG Civilian case does not have the magnet. But I am still able to sit phone in case on MagSafe charging pad and it charges through the case.

Mine was working for a day. Now my 12 Mini won't charge Qi at all. I just went back out to test it with my silicone case (apple branded) that arrived last night. Just tried my other Qi chargers in the house with case on/off and no dice. Works fine on the Xs we have.

Yeah, getting a 20w USB charging brick (or 12v for the truck) will just allow your phone to fast charge, but all of your legacy lighting cables/chargers will work the same as they always have. They will also charge your phone faster than the Qi wireless pad in the Tacoma (unless you have shitty 12v plugs in the truck).
