    How's it going!
I have a 2014 taco DCSB and wanted to upgrade my stereo. I have seen sound man's iPad mount and was really interested in installing. My only question is what head unit could I use that would allow me to control my head unit while the iPad is on. Also, can I maintain use the iPad to view the rear view camera? Is there any thread with info on this already?

If you are using the iPad mount that replaces the stock HU then your iPod is your HU. You'll hook the iPod to a LOC, then from LOC to amps. You'll use the iTunes player for audio controls.

As for back up camera, don't think its possible to add to an iPad. I could make it work on Android but not iOS due to locked down API files.

    Hello!

In case you hadn't stumbled across any of the threads showing off iPads in dash, I'd like to point you in the direction of the iPad in dash products that I make and sell. That soundman kit is $250 and still requires a ton of fabrication work to make it look right in the dash. I've streamlined the process of making iPad in dash kits for our trucks and offer a completed product, professionally painted whichever color you'd like, for $325.

As far as the audio / visual integration, there are a number of options, but I recommend the Sony AppRemote radios. These let you control the functions of the head unit directly through the iPad, so you can retain sources like AM/FM/HD/SAT radio, CD, iPod, Bluetooth Audio, and Bluetooth hands free calling. There are products out there that will allow you to integrate a backup camera to be viewed with the iPad, but I have not tried to integrate that with my setup yet. Check out the link in my signature to my thread. There are a lot of pictures and a ton of information on applications for iPad in dash!
