    Who is it, is it @Iwilltaco who is sitting on enough losses they can max out for another 6 years? Can’t remember who. Losses happen.

    boring stuff: etfs are it. I have a boring investment account that gets all my attention. Nrgu is just fun money that would otherwise have been spent on a lunch at work or a stupid decoration or something. Not playing 6 figures in Monopoly money. I wish.

    I’ve posted it before but you spent umpteen years planning your retirement. You planned 40 years out. Then 30 years out. Then 20. 10. 5. 1. And then you retired and all that planning was worth it.

    NOW is not the time to chuck out 40 years of planning on a whim. Retirement and stability accounts are not one to mess with.

    I don’t do day trading but short term is fun like a few days or a week or two.

    I think it was probably @Boyk1182, definitely not worried about short term volatility. I have a similar dividend strategy but not as substantial. I never looked at it as retirement but rather supplemental income down the road.

    @TreeFortRichard

    Futures just rolled to the July contract. That just dropped VIX futures $1.20 Time to see if that holds in futures trading tonight. If it does I'll be smiling.

    Just need NVDA and BABA to move up again before Friday. There was some good vaccine news over the weekend so that should kick the market up. If Powell can downplay the doom and gloom in front of Congress Tues and Wed things might have an upside. If not, I'm all out by Thur.

    Futures are crabby it looks like. Reopening excitement didn’t even last until everything is open.

    In the first 30 minutes of trading futures are down. I don't bother really trusting them until 5AM. They can go either way with 15 hours of trading left.

    I'm with you.

    Yea, I'm waiting for a buy in point, this markets waaaaay too expensive for me still. I wildly miss timed this market, and now I have 6 figures worth of cash not invested that I know if I put in the bottom will fall out lol. I'm a long term investor who is ultra conservative right now with all this volatility in and out of the market.

    I'll for once probably not owe taxes this year with all these loss deductions!

    yup. It’s a crap shoot. There was one night I looked at futures like -350 but something happened in....japan or France can’t remember which. Opened at +200 or so. And then it was a Green Day or red day can’t remember which.

    yeah right now it’s a gamble on the market. There’s no real skill going on. It’s a crapshoot as I said above it’s just toss a dart and hope it sticks.

    Once MRO breaks even I’ll bail. Maybe hold out for a few bucks but not holding out for much. Nrgu is a longer hold though don’t really bother with the short term dip it’s seeing now. Just waiting for that sweet sweet 40/share :D

    I love these dips, I’m spending $45 on Coke instead of $60 these days. I heard KO went down too.

    They didn’t get any better. Nothing changes, but the same airline stocks go down, up, down in 3 days. Seems they should be bought again today to sell when they are up tomorrow. Market Silliness I say

    Looks like they had a steady decline through the end of 2019 and into 2020. I think it's worth a ~120$ risk if I had that to throw around. If that jumped up to even half of Feb levels you're at a great ROI, but the problem becomes if the fund itself just goes kaput.

    Also, this:

    @Boyk1182 Is ERX a good long-term hold dividend pick?

    https://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSEARCA/ERX/dividend/#:~:text=Direxion Daily Energy Bull 2x Shares (NYSEARCA:ERX) Dividend,a dividend yield of 0.89%.

    https://www.dividend.com/dividend-stocks/uncategorized/other/vti-vanguard-total-stock-market-etf/#tm=3-ticker-best-div-capture&r=ES::DividendStock::Stock#VTI--ARCX&f_28=true&only=meta,data,thead

    Dividend payout % is about the same as VTI over time.
    Edit to add - by looking at percentage, I cant find management fees off the cuff but typically Vanguard ETFs are at or within spitting distance of the lowest management fees.

    I am not familiar with that fund. I have all of my energy exposure in CVX, XOM, and ENB. I don't like those 2x funds so I don't think I'd invest there, but that's just me.

    I own quite a bit of XOM. My worries is that electric cars will dominate the future. Dominion Energy is one of my picks

    I expect the big oil companies to adapt as things change. I don't think they'll just go out of business because energy is changing. I also don't expect electric cars to dominate anytime soon. Nobody wants to plug their car in for hours when you can gas up in 5 minutes. Oil is also used for so many other things, I just don't see the industry going anywhere anytime soon. I may be wrong of course!

    As of 2016, only 27% of the demand is passenger vehicles. I am actually considering a plug in hybrid especially if they can get a 20+ mile range. My commute to work is only 5 miles, so I could get to and from on a plug in. Definitely tempting if I'm considering a second vehicle anyway.
