I have to say I love my 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Double cab. It was my first brand new vehicle and in 130,000K I have had no issues, until now. When I went to the dealer and found out what the "lumpy Steering" was caused by and the service manager told me they were changing many of them I was very disappointed to here there was no recall on this issue, especially after going on this forum and others to see and hear about so many other owners have the exact same issue and some with as low as 80,000K on their units. I was also very surprised to find there was a recall on the rear leaf springs that was announced in 2017, of which I was never informed by my dealer or Toyota Canada. When the parts manager told me the price of the steering shaft ($465.00) I was a little upset. I managed to find a replacement unit OE on Amazon for $72.00.
After joining this forum and seeing the article about replacing the problem U-joint, I have also ordered it and plan to repair the old unit once it is replaced. Thank you for the great site and for everyone sharing. Take care everyone and be safe out there.

He's complaining the U-joint on the steering shaft had gotten stiff after 10 years and 130,000 kms.
