Checking to see if anyone has removed the colored accent trim pieces from a 22 SR5 or any other that has them. First, is it possible to remove them from the door panel at all? Second, if they can be removed can it be done without removing the entire door panel? Don’t want to just start trying to take things off. Cold and plastic don’t mix too well. Thanks for the time.

Ignore the double pic. Living in the sticks has its advantages as you don’t have to deal with idiot neighbors but internet leaves a lot to be desired. Hehehe.

If I remember correctly, the door pieces have tabs, that you have grind off to remove. Factory melts tabs to keep them in place. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Pulling the door panels is easy enough. Google on YouTube.

Just be careful on rear door with handle and lock cables. Make sure they are snapped in place securely. So many don't and doors won't open.

Thanks I know how to remove the door panels. It was the accent pieces I wasn’t sure about. As far as the melting I remember that from my 95 Supra. Well shit something easy just became complicated.

Here's a good view of the backside. As stated above, the panels are plastic welded. You'd have to drill/grind the melted plastic and find a way to reattach them. Probably easier and cheaper to swap or buy new panels.

Trading may be the best option now. The process of removing the melted attachment studs and finding another that can be used in its place that you can not only solidly attach but also are tight enough to prevent rattles is a test in patience.

Thanks. I’ll have to send him a message. If he did all that and got the panels to fit and stay he might have a solution. Key word might.

Anyone want to trade door panels…..

@PTSDTherapy Special thanks to @Bertw192 for the link! Anyway, this is honestly not hard to do, once you remove the door panels. And yes, they are really easy to remove. Once you remove the panels you will see what you would be up against in removing just the colored panel in your truck. The video that is linked, also shows how to remove the dash panel that is color-keyed to match too. I looked, and I have several pics that I will post below, of various stages of my interior remodel. Good luck!IMG_20200224_085552_4.jpg IMG_20200224_085642_4.jpg IMG_20200224_101451_2.jpg IMG_20200226_103005_8.jpg IMG_20200226_103024_3.jpg IMG_20200226_131024_3.jpg IMG_20200226_131048_6.jpg IMG_20200226_131053_8.jpg IMG_20200226_131059_4.jpg IMG_20200226_131117_0.jpg IMG_20200224_085552_4.jpg IMG_20200224_085642_4.jpg IMG_20200224_101451_2.jpg IMG_20200226_103005_8.jpg IMG_20200226_103024_3.jpg IMG_20200226_131024_3.jpg IMG_20200226_131048_6.jpg IMG_20200226_131053_8.jpg IMG_20200226_131059_4.jpg IMG_20200226_131117_0.jpg

Thanks for the pics. What did you use to reattach the panels after trimming the melted attachment points?

I honestly really love the red. Don’t have a double cab or id trade.

The red doesn't look bad. It matches the stitching on your seats.
I would give it some time to grow on you before doing anything drastic.

Red doesn’t go with the interior plans for the truck. Already halfway there red has to go. And that minuscule amount of red stitching will never be seen. So if anyone wants to swap door panels HMU.

No! Save the red accent panels! They’re rad! You just have to love them for what they are.
