I’ve had my eyes on the Interco Super Swamper SSR 35x10.5r16 (skinny 35’s) as the next set of mud terrains after my skinny 33’s wear out. I remember them being priced at about $300, but when I looked today they are priced at $6-700. What happened to cause the price to double?

That sounds crazy expensive. Why not just go regular 35s?

    Ya too expensive for me.

The reason for skinny 35s is primarily their potential for easier fitment and the ability to use stock wheels.

Gotcha - spend some more on the tires but save on the suspension.

Can’t help you haha. Curious what the rest of TW thinks

At $6-700 a tire I might as well buy 17” wheels and the Kenda Klever skinny 35.

Either way, it will be at least a year before I’d be buying.

Im mostly just curious why the price doubled on the super swampers.

Same thing happened to the Falken Wildpeaks a couple years ago. Got popular, price jumped. Wonder if that’s what this is

    Damn, 72 pounds per tire.

I think a regear to 5.29 would be a must.

For the most part im content running stock gears and skinny 33s. City, highway no problem whatsoever. It’s off-road when aired down and carrying a bunch of weight, she struggles at times in 2WD and 4WD HI. 4LO could also be a bit lower.

4.88s would be cool for my truck but I would never spend my money on that. It’s not a big deal at all.

Do you think these 35s will clear the upper fender liner at full stuff?

Not sure - doubt it though. My ST Maxx are 255/85/16 skinny 33s and barely clear. They’ll still rub if I reverse into my uphill driveway at full lock too quick

Yeah my tires slightly touch the very front part of the liner when I’m making a sharp turn while going over a bump.

It’s so minor that I don’t even have to do anything about it.

Tire weight is of very little importance IMHO. The moment of inertia of the tire is only important during acceleration and it’s relatively insignificant compared to the total weight of the truck. You can estimate 1lb of tire/wheel weight to be approximately 2lbs of inertia. A tire+wheel that weighs 10 extra lbs is equivalent to adding 80 lbs of payload. Again the added rotational inertia only affects acceleration. It means nothing when cruising at a constant velocity.

What’s more important is the rolling resistance of the tire, which is never published but likely quite high on a 35” mud terrain.

In any case, I see no need for 5.29 on a manual transmission 3.5L with 35” tires. There is only a 13% difference in diameter. To get back to stock gear ratios would only require a 4.88.

Additionally, I have 2 sets of wheels and tires: one for off-road and one for on-road.

It’s funny cuz on the website, it says they are great in wet and icy conditions. Haha!

Also, for some reason it states that the width of tire is 11.6”.

I suspect they will rub the top of the wheel well. There are a few solutions.

    - extended bump stop
    - big hammer
    - body lift
    - aftermarket wheel wells

I’m leaning towards extended bump stops plus a 1/2” top hat spacer to maintain full travel. It would also give me about 1” of lift in the front.
