Yes the Pioneer will do it as long as you use the iDatalink with it. You can control almost all functions as you would with stock except the nav wont show up on panel above the steering wheel.

Okay guys, want to make sure I have my shopping list down so I can get this right the first time:
    1. 8000NEX
    2. iDataLink Maestro RR (for steering wheel controls)
    3. iDatalink ACC-SAT-T02 (for GPS & satellite radio antenna)

@mykie ... What dash kit and wiring harness did you use? Also, is an additional antenna adapter required for the AM/FM radio wire?

Yeah, you need yet another adapter for the antenna... here's what I used:
    AM/FM Adapter - Metra 40-LX11: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VYWSES
    Wiring harness - ADS-HRN-RR-TO2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K02TMKQ
    Dash kit - Metra 998251B:

    2. iDataLink Maestro RR (for steering wheel controls)
    3. iDatalink ACC-SAT-T02 (for GPS & satellite radio antenna)
    4. Metra 40-LX11 (AM/FM adapter)
    5. iDatalink ADS-HRN-RR-TO2 Wiring Harness
    6. Metra 998251B Dash Kit

Basically what I am coming up with too. Except I am going to go with the 4100 I think since I won't ever use the built in nav on the head unit. I can use the one on the phone and see it on the head unit anyway. Way cheaper too.

Does it show you things like MPG, Backup Camera, Etc.? Also, does it give you gauges for the truck? Can you show some pictures of the different pages if so?

So what's the total cost for this implementation?

Nice! I am so glad I saw this. I am so tempted to get a 2018 in less than a year, and I hate what toyota is doing to the navigation system. They Dynamic Navigation is free for 3 years, but what’s the cost after that? I have a aftermarket radio in my 2006 with Apple Car Play and I love it! Now Apple car play is wireless, and the wireless charging in the Tacoma’s, a great match!

I might just get the cheaper radio, and put in my own.

I was browsing the iDataLink website and there's a new firmware update for the Maestro. Particularly interesting is the "Navigation outputs", which I haven't seen before.

I'm updating my module and checking now to see if navigation prompts appear. Will update soon!

If the nav data passback to the dash screen gets fixed, I will be installing one of these on my truck. Coming from my old car that had an android auto unit, Entune is sub par. I do wish that the dash kit were more flush for double din units.

Bad news, it didn't send the navigation data back to the display. :(

    Aw mannnn..

So is the navigation tab on the display just blank? Does it feel "broken" in any way?

This is interesting the compass on my screen still functions properly and the navigation works properly, even gives me warnings abut the speed limit of the roads I'm traveling on! I have had a great experience with the navigation system on my pioneer AVIC 5100-NEX

So the navigation and compass still shows up in your heads up display behind the steering wheel? Do you use Android auto or Apple Carplay?

Yes to both Android auto and apple car play but both require a USB data connection to function properly!
