I ordered cover king letherette front seat covers. My question is, if I disconnect the 2 wiring connections and pull the seats out, what will happen when I reconnect the plugs? I read to disconnect neg. battery terminal first, then when reconnected after install, it will clear all the settings and problems could occur. What is best way ? Any comments appreciated

Those wiring harnesses are for your in seat air bags. You can disconnect them without issue. I disconnected them and pulled the seats out of my vehicle to install my seat covers.

I did not disconnect the battery prior to uninstalling my seats. It wouldn't hurt though as an extra precaution.

Seems I read somwhere it would clear all the settings and make the vehicle run different until the computer resets or something of that nature. Dont need extra problems.

Dont start your truck when the seats are disconnected or your going to light up the christmas tree and have a visit with your dealer. The only truly safe way is to disconnect the battery. Set off an airbag and your going to have some esplaining to do.

I live dangerously..I did not disconnect the battery and took the seats out to cover them..I too have leatherettes and they are looking better everyday. When the heat comes any wrinkling will smooth out. I ordered the rears a couple weeks ago.

In the early 2nd gens the electrical connector under the seat if left off tells the truck that the seatbelt is already on. (No bell) I don't think your 3rd gens will do this:notsure:

I installed new coverking leatherette front seat covers. First turn key to lock position and disconnect negative battery cable. Using a 14mm wrench loosen the front seat screws from frame, on the back side there is a plastic cover covering the slide frame, you pull out a little and twist, they should pop off easily to reveal the rear screws, loosen and remove all 4 screws. Pull seat back forward and tilt back to get to the airbag and seat belt plugs. They each have a tab you press and unplug. Carefully remove seat and place on bench or table. Install 1 piece seat cover tucking straps through the flap which is held on by a couple of clips that come right off, under bottom of seat. Pull the covers tight and hook the straps. This requires a little patience. Where the cover fits under the rear of the seat it has a velcro strip which adheres under the seat, it needs to be pulled so it will assist holding the straps. Using the shoe horn looking accessory tool work the cover starting on one end, into the plastic molding around bottom of seat, push and tuck. The head rest are fairly simple. When everything looks good replace seats, ( front screws have a guide pin for correct alignment) taking care not to grab the seat by the release bar causing the slides to be different lengths making reinstall difficult. If this happens simply pull the release bar and reposition the slides until they look about the same length. Make sure to plug wires back in. When replacing seat screws take care to start all 4 screws making sure they screw in by hand. You don't want to cross thread them. Snug the front first and if rear holes don't quite line up I took a 3 or 4 foot 1x4 and place in between the seat and side door panel and gently move the seat to line up holes and screw in by hand. Torque to specs, replace negative cable and you'r ready to go. The only problem is you will lose some settings, radio, mileage etc. but no warning lights. I will be installing rear covers later.Good luck.
