Searched for a half hour and found two videos related to installing new fog lights (not just bulbs) for Morimotos. I realize they aren’t the OEM LED ones, which I’m getting, but figured the install should be the same (except no harness work for the OEM one).

Anyway, one video showed replacement via undoing a couple clips and a couple screws from the lower inner fender well and reaching up in there with the shielding pulled back a bit. In this video he just undid the one screw holding in the factory fog, unclipped it, then reversed the process with the Morimoto.

In the other video, the guy took off the grill fand the plastic air dams and went down at it from the front and, and then also took out the black plastic surrounds to the fog lights.

This second way seems like ridiculous overkill unless I’m missing a reason that the black surround needs to come out just to go right back in again.

Safe to assume the first approach from the fender liner is the correct approach, and no need to remove the plastic surround or anything when swapping factory fogs for the Toyota LED fogs?

    thanks

I did it through the wheel well but I've read that others have done it through the engine bay without removing anything

Dont overthink it, it's very simple.

I just installed some Rigid Fogs and I went in through the top with the hood popped. I have pretty large hands and even I thought it was pretty easy to manage. I’ve also heard of people removing their grill when doing it this way to give them more room if needed.

I just opened the hood and reached down from the top. You can see the back of the light and reach it pretty easily If you do not need to remove the surrounds there is just one screw to hold the light in. The surrounds have clips I just pushed. Lights themselves ae also pretty easy to un plug

I did it same as you. Used a short magnetic screwdriver for installing the screw.

Cool thanks! I’ll see if I can just reach down, first. I can definitely reach the bulb this way, so maybe getting to the housing screw isn’t that much worse.
